Thinking about an iso cab for my heads. I have wondered about speaker heat in such an enclosure. It’s probably not a substantially worse scenario than a closed back cab.

Twin Reverbs are probably my favorite amps, and Deluxe reverbs are among my LEAST favorite. I'm just not a fan of the DR sound.
I'd rather play a Twin on 1 than a DR at any volume.

Not going to get a huge argument from me on that. After so many years with lots of amps I have settled in to a Twin in my living room as my permanent amp which leave on 1.5 and it gives me everything I want.
The only reason I go to the DR is I'm just to damn old to be lugging around a Twin. And I just don't gig except the occasional small venue sitting in with friends. If I show up with a Twin I will get the frowny face, "just what do you think you're gonna do with that?".

Its like when i roll my marshall half stack in the door the bartender looks at me and says your to loud. He has no idea i use attenuator.

I have a drri that I play with at my church gigged. It’s always miced . It sounds decent. At home I practice with a 59 bassman which to me is the bees knees of 6L6 Fender amps imo. I guess I really like big bottles and see the use for smaller ones .

My ‘65 DR is a great amp but, like some of you, I prefer the big bottles. I sold my ‘66-‘67 VR because it was heavy but I sometimes wish I could make the DR sound like that VR. Weight is a major factor to me these days and it’s caused me to sell some incredible amps I acquired through the years. That said, my DR isn’t going anywhere.

Thinking about an iso cab for my heads. I have wondered about speaker heat in such an enclosure. Clearly, you've never pushed 110 Watts into a 4 - holer.

I used to have a modified 65 Blackface Fender Showman I ran through a 70's Marshall 4-12 cabinet that I stacked on top of its Anvil case. That was a great combination. After that I had an original mid-90's 120 watt 5150 I gigged with for a couple years. It was GLORIUSLY loud but if I stepped front directly in front of it I couldn't hear it. Super directional. That was the mother and father of my tinnitus.

My favorite amp is an early 70's Fender Pro Reverb. I love the sweet smooth chimey tone! You just cited one of the best amps Fender made... People talk about BF Fenders ... but this model has it going on! I acquired a roughed up AA1069 1973 Silverface then had the bias taken back to pre CBS, and that was about it. IMO the mojo in this amp comes from being powered by a 5U4BG rectifier. The feel of the amp is softer & it breaks up quicker than any BF PR's that I've played. Smooth with bell like chime... till about 5, then it starts to sounds mean in a vintage way (If you know what I mean) The problem back then (with silverfaces) where the OEM speakers. Yuk. I ended up going with some Mullbery Pike specials ... Some proprietary Blue label Legend 1258s. Tonality wise the 1258s just fit what the amp does beautifully

pcal, ever since I repaired a guy’s 1971-72 Fender Silverface Pro Reverb in 2004-2005 I was smitten with them.
