Auf, I have a all-hog 00 Martin with La Bellas on it right now, which gives it a very distinctive tone. But since I'm having trouble finding those, maybe I'll try those Mangans. It is my couch guitar, and I like trying different strings on it.
And LOL @ stratcowboy. Wonder if Mrs. R would buy that?

I've no personal experience with their guitar strings, but I've been buying bass strings directly from their website for years and their customer service is excellent. I once had an issue and called their customer service. Curt himself answered and was very cool. He took care of my issue and then BS'ed with me for a while as though we were old buds. He likes to talk about strings.

It's closed now, but that guy had a connection to Dan Fogelberg, so I thought maybe you've been there.

Well I should have probably posted it here but instead posted in the string thread in electric guitars. Got my Curt Mangan coated 12-54 installed on my parlor and while it's early to tell find it highly likely I'll be ordering these again. Dang this guitar just doubled in volume. Thank you, I have the same strings but in 11-52's. After hearing your results here I am more anxious to try them out this weekend.

We were in Durango in maybe 2010 or so, a few years after DF had passed away. I wandered into that store, and was amazed at the excellent inventory. Got to playing the couple of Martins hanging on the wall, and a guy who turned out to be the owner came by and we got to talking about Martins. I had DF on my mind as we had driven through Pagosa Springs the previous day. So I asked the owner if he had ever had a Martin Dan Fogelberg Signature in his store, or had ever even seen one. He got a strange look on his face, and told me that a friend of his owned the original Martin DF prototype. Martin had built it to Dan's specifications and had given it to him to try out for a while to see if it was what he wanted. It was, and he kept it. However, he then got sick, and was back and forth between his places in CO and Maine. He had a nurse in CO who took care of him, and her husband was a good guitar player and a friend. So shortly before he died, he gave that DF prototype to the nurse to give to her husband. And the owner of the store knew the husband, and had played that guitar often. So this is my long-winded way of saying that I've kept my eyes open for a Martin Dan Fogelberg Signature for 20 years now and have yet to find one, but was **THIS** close to the original prototype. I would just like to see one, play it if I could. Not sure that I could afford one unless I sold a kidney or something, but I don't know what one would go for now.
And we were back in Durango a year later (this was when we were trying to decide where to retire to some day and Durango was #1 on the list at the time) and the shop was gone, closed. Too bad, I really liked the place, and the owner too.

My Elixirs from Strings and Beyond arrived in the mail yesterday. Five days, including a holiday weekend, not bad!
I must say that I am impressed. Good prices, good service.

Is that the Yamaha? How do they sound? Yessir. I like them a lot. Clear, bright, loud. Seem to be holding tune really well. They don't feel as waxy as Elixrs but definitely tamp down the finger squeak. I can see switching between these and the John Pearse L200s for a change of pace. Very different, like 'em both.
