You thought it was going to be about banjos? Well, it is! You can't even say the word "banjo" without someone telling a banjo joke! So let's hear what ya got!
Feel free to post pics also!
What's the difference between a run over frog and a run over banjo player? The frog was on it's way to a gig.
Why do some people take an instant aversion to banjo players? It saves time in the long run.
What did the banjo player get on his IQ (or SAT) test? Drool…
How can you tell if the stage is level? The banjo player drools out of both sides of his mouth.
What's the difference between a banjo and a South American Macaw? One is loud, obnoxious, and noisy; and the other is a bird.
What are the three things musicians don't talk about? Religion, Politics and Banjos.

Gold Stars.. excellent.. would have bought one if it had a wider nut. They are still excellent banjos and a good value. Note that there are pros who play the old Stars.
Deering Makes excellent banjos, great sounding tone rings, . I have been eyeing an anniversary white oak model with a white oak tone ring...what a fine instrument.
I have owned better than a dozen banjos starting with a 1925 Gibson TB3 which I converted to a five string, lots of others. Recently sold my Bart Reiter custom FF Professional.
Still considering another banjo but want a wider nut and some other stuff like dots only no fingerboard inlays, tunnel fifth string. etc.
As to banjo jokes .. do a search and paste, there are no end to them. Then look up bagpipe jokes, same list, then look up accordeon jokes, same list.
Since I have played banjo (on and off) since 1971-72 and button accordeons for 30 years and own an early 1900s GHB (Great Highland Bagpipe) and considering learning to play ( I have a few friends who are pro players, Kevin Carr, Sean Folsom) lay it on, I can handle it.

It takes a real man to start a thread about banjos around here... Not really, I was counting on some non-musicians to chime in!

The definition of perfect pitch: landing a banjo in a dumpster from 50 feet away.
And here's one, courtesy of wrnchbndr:
Q: What's the difference between a banjo and Brussels sprouts?
A: I could probably eat a banjo.

What do they call a banjo on fire? ....a good start.
Serious though, my wife gave me a banjo for Christmas a few years back. It’s a Sega MIJ. There isn’t any info anywhere. Only thing I come across is kits.

Many would not recognize what I'm playing these days as a "banjo", unless they saw them of course. I've got two strung with Nylgut strings, one fretted one fretless, one tuned down two and a half steps and the other three and a half steps. I don't use picks and get a low, mellow tone. I've got a couple more with steel strings, again one fretted and one fretless, but they are getting dusty lately. I will tell you that fretless banjo is a challenge, and some days my intonation is spot on and other days I couldn't find the pitch with a map and a flashlight!

I'm on my 6th and 7th banjos. I would buy one for a series of gigs and trade it toward another guitar or bass when I no longer needed it. Currently I am a mummer in Philly and I will need a couple of banjos until I get too worn out to play. Currently I have a Fender Robert Schmidt signature electrified plectrum banjo and a Rogue six string with a Dimarzio pickup. The Fender is stupid heavy due to a 5+ lb bell brass tone ring, the Rogue is a featherweight--no tone ring. It can get rough playing in 30 degrees in costume with a wind chill of 16 degrees while marching and doing intricate roiutines. The occasional collision with saxophone players, maneuvering upright bassists and heavy wheeled props adds to the challenge.

Peegoo said "The definition of perfect pitch: landing a banjo in a dumpster from 50 feet away" The proper sentence is "The definition of perfect pitch: tossing a banjo into a dumpster from 50 feet away, and it lands on a set of bagpipes"
