As much as I like the Moe's name, it is clear (and has been discussed several times) that if we are going to attract new members, we should have a name that kind of says more who we are.
Keep in mind that we do NOT have a brand affiliation, and cannot use any brand name unlike the FDP.
That being said, let's have some discussion about whether we want to, and if so, what we could re-name this place.
The individual Moe's Tavern forum, of course, will still be Moe's, just the general name of this place would change, in theory.
Whatcha got?

I see what you did there. It was weak because I was under pressure to get the first post in.

Usually, under pressure, that type of thing is generally stronger.

People are finding the site -- at any given time there are twice as many guests viewing as members.
Of course all these guests could be data mining hackers.

What are the parameters ? (how ambitious are you ?) Is this site just for Fender musical instrument users ? Or should it be for all guitars ? In a way it already seems more than just a Fender site. Btw...I propose we have a section for highlighting musical instrument scams and ratings. I thought I'd throw that out there... before I forget A site is probably more complex to manage if it's too inclusive, but it might be more profitable if the world drops in. And if you want more people to show up, having a name that is easily searchable and memorable could be key. However, there is a lesson of sorts in the past. At one time, harmony-central was my site of choice for all it's years and years of reviews. Then they lost most of that data, reformatted everything, changed it's focus and kept that clunky name that doesn't make much sense and isn't easy to remember. Especially since I hardly go there now. So you have a strong point. A name of a site can be a key item. But maybe when someone types "Fender guitars" in Google search, you could also get "Moes" to show up. The user might be intrigued by the name to the point of checking things out and you wouldn't have to change anything : the character remains intact. Or you'll get ideas like F.A.M.E.(Fender's Awesome Musical Equipment) as a site name...and maybe WORSE !

At one time, harmony-central was my site of choice ....... Giraffe Central That’s all I’ve got. Folk turn up on websites because a search engine directs them there. I don’t think a non-brand specific name would help.

Actually, I like Giraffe Central...especially if it popped up every time someone searched for Fender Guitars... How could they NOT want to look at that ?

People are finding the site -- at any given time there are twice as many guests viewing as members. Of course all these guests could be data mining hackers. Could also be folks from the thousands from the FDP who lurk and didn’t feel they needed to sign up since the site is free and accessible. No telling if any of them found us a different way. We’re at 490 members when I last looked. Getting a handful per day still.
