Spent the last 11 days at the Alafia River Rendezvous in Homeland Florida. It’s a pre-1840 living history encampment. Many of the participants focus on earlier periods. Fur trade, Westward exploration, French Indian War, etc. This was my 28th year participating. The music is a mix of period correct and the more modern mountain music. I was interested in seeing if I could pull off using my Phil Jones Double Four with my acoustic bass. The guitar player noticed, after about 10 songs or so, the LED lamps. It sounded very natural, no one else picked up on it. He had no problem with it, he was rather happy that I was accompanying him. I forgot the black electrical tape. I think I’ll get the amp, and basket I use with it, an emotional support license. Of course I’ll forge this document myself. Another strange bit of knowledge was revealed to me at the camp. An old friend, an amazing bow builder, string maker, as well as knapper of arrows and traditional flint point, was commissioned to make something like 400 knife blades out of Obsidian by George Martin for the Game Of Thrones “Dragon Glass”, apparently the only thing that can kill White Walkers. “o). I got one from him, the last one he had. George Martin has given him the OK to continue making them and with his blessing, along with calling them Dragon Glass., It’s kind of cool. He’s making me a few more for my sister and niece who are big fans of the GOT.

Wow, very cool!
I spent an hour in a blacksmith's shop on Saturday. We shot the sh*t while he sharpened my chainsaw. He makes knives out of railroad spikes. They were amazing.

I've got a few projects to do, unloading the truck and dealing with all the canvas. I gave away my last blow pipe to a family new to rendezvous. Maybe later today I'll fire up the forge and bang out a couple more.
A couple of friends are visiting from New Hampshire, they should be here around 4:00, they might get a kick out of playing around with the forge.

I've never watched GOT, but that obsidian knife is very very cool!
It looks like an authentic paleo tool.

A couple years ago, I watched a few YT channels who had baseball bats wrapped in barbed wire that were evidently inspired by a zombie series. I thought it was dopey.
This, on the other hand, is pretty cool -- not because it kills dragons, but because a Hollywood type pays enough attention to detail to commission actual handcrafted props.

"its basically the same thing as the Real Housewives of New Jersey, except with dragons."
I think I caught bits of some episodes of "Housewives". There were definitely dragons.
