Excellent, it’s good to know your own mind. I don’t do much of the impulse purchasing anymore. I’ll pull out my instruments and seriously consider if the new shinny desire is actually any better than what I already have.
With the most recent purchase, the Cordoba C9 Parlor, it was a real temptation. I pulled out the Yamaha CSF1M Parlor, which was the most recent purchase about 3 or so years ago. It’s a great little guitar, very dynamic, good tone, it has it all, this has been my travel guitar. I take it everywhere.
Hoping it would satisfy and deter the impulse, It should have been enough but the classical guitar format allows me to play with out the stress, I can play longer with no pain. The classical nut width is also a great improvement for my bass playing left hand’s calloused finger pads, which are visibly wider than my right hand finger tips. I did my research, I couldn’t find one to try out and was very leery purchasing sight unseen. I found a used one at a Guitar Center in north central USA, I went to the local GC and paid for it there, they would give me a full refund if I was unhappy with it.
I’m not sure what will happen to the Yamaha, I may sell it, it’s a known good guitar. I may give it to a nephew. I have two great Mahogany Martins, the 00-15 and the 000-15S. I am partial to both of these. The 000 is the closest thing to a dreadnought that I have. Still. I’ve been moving more towards the nylon stringed instruments, because of the zero fatigue when playing them. I have the 00-15 set up to be nearly as easy on me.
I’ve got to really consider moving some to new homes. I’ve got a few basses I can part with too. The 1981 P bass is a beast, I never use it anymore but if I ever do studio stuff again it would be the one I’d want, the sound guys love this red beast. It was my second instrument, I played the Framus from 1964 to 1981. That ones is not going anywhere either. It has more value to me than anyone else.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
