I changed the strings yesterday on my old Guild. The old ones had been on there for a year and a day. They still sounded just fine. But I wanted to polish up the guitar and treat the fret board. So I did, and it's looking mighty fine now. What strings lasted a year on your Guild?

LTB, they were Elixir 80/20 Bronze, light gauge.
I've used Elixirs for years. I switch between th 80/20s and PBs, like both.

I just got a set of Elixir Nanoweb 11-52s for my Taylor 214, but when I played it, the old strings (well over a year old) still sounded great, so I put them on my Martin D35 instead. I think it's the first time I've put Elixirs on a Martin, (I usually use Martin strings), but they sound *way* better than the el cheapo strings I'd given a try. :-)

Ayns, I had a D-35 for a week or so. It was an old one that had belonged to the father of a friend. The father passed away, and the friend brought it to me for an evaluation. It was beat to hell and cruddy, so I cleaned it up for him.
I put Elixirs on that one, and they sounded great.

Martin 80/20 of some variety. When I use up my inventory I'm going to try some D'addario strings. I never liked Elixir strings. I remember liking Ernie Ball slinkys as well.

I'm not a big fan of 80/20's - to my ears they always went dull way too soon. But I recently had a set of D'Addario 80-20 Mediums on my Martin J-18, and was very surprised and pleased with the tone - and they lasted a LOT longer than I thought they would. JMHE/YMMV, etc.

I'm a wimp when it comes to playing acoustics. I'm so used to light gauge electric guitar strings, 009 - 0042 or 0046, when I pick up the acoustic with 011's on it the strings feel like suspension bridge cables. What acoustic strings and gauges have the most elasticity to them? I don't play acoustic often enough to have a good handle on this.

Martin still makes their Flexible Core strings; I've used them and like them - I think they do what Martin claims. Check out the information and string gauge options on Martin's website page here: www.martinguitar.com/1833-shop/authentic-acoustic-flexible-core/c-24/p-1489/Scroll down the page to see the chart with the string gauge options.
