My Tone Master Deluxe is expected to be delivered today. It was a good deal; store demo/rental model with full warranty. I will now sell the '69 SFSR to pay for it. Congratulations. Hope it works really well for you and of course you must give us your first impressions

It's the black tone Master Deluxe. It's surprisingly loud! Dimed at 0.2 watts, it gets nicely overdriven with Texas Specials. Clean at full power on 2.5 is plenty for my living room. I've been a tube snob for years, but this is close enough for me. It's a keeper, and I hope it's motivation to start playing again. The SFSR is a great amp, but it's quite a lug at age 63 if I had to go anywhere. Too much amp for me now.

Definitely expensive enough for a guitar speaker.

It's my understanding that the 22 lb total weight is due to the speaker being so light. And the cost of the amp is directly affected by the cost of the speaker. Various opininons indicated that the 50w Boss Katana was a better deal "bang for the buck". In the end, I get Fender tone (at several db levels) in an amp I can carry. I'm happy!

there is another version of the delux tone master that is cream colored with a different speaker and the bright cap removed. i wonder what the diff in sound is I have the Blonde version of Tone Master Twin Reverb. Not sure if same speaker but mine came with Celestion Neo speakers. Ok but found the ones I replaced them with are much better, however I love chimey clean tone. Just found this: “ Celestion G12 Neo Creamback speaker A hand-picked 12" Celestion G12 Neo Creamback speaker gives the Tone Master Deluxe Reverb Blonde a similar stage-filling punch and vocal-like midrange to the G12M Greenback, beloved by players from Eric Clapton to Eddie Van Halen, but with much higher handling. And thanks to its neodymium magnet, the Neo Creamback weighs in significantly lighter than its classic counterpart. This helps reduce weight for an easier carry from the car to the stage, with no loss in tone. "No other speaker could sound as close to a G12M (Greenback) and offer this level of power handling capability." — Celestion” I guess I do not understand the need for different speaket for blonde version compared to the black tolex version. Just seems strange. Since mine came with 2-60 watt speakers the single celestion in the Blonde Deluxe would have to be rated For 100 Watts RMS min (Tone Master Deluxe Reverb max wattage)
