I get that most forums use these for post counts, but I notice CG and fitz has full rows already. CG's are green (coincidence?), and fitz's are red....mad and mean? cranky?
And.... I left the FDP with 4 full rows of quality stars, I expect free toaster minimum from here. (_8^(I)

The stars here are assigned based on post count:
New member; 1 Yellow Star
Junior Member: 2 Yellow Stars (50 posts)
Full Member: 3 Light Blue Stars (100 posts)
Senior member: 4 Red Stars (1000 posts)
Legacy Member: 5 Seafoam Green Stars (2000 posts)
I didn't think they mattered much, but I can play with the color and post count for each level if someone has ideas.

No 3-color sunburst stars? Awwww.... Honestly, I would loved to have made them all guitar themed, and I did think the same thing when I was looking at them!

Literally the only limitation based on post count is use of the FSOT page. I still think its a good idea and nobody has persuaded me otherwise. Some of the more active members have made it to, close, or at least halfway to 50 in a day.
If, it turns out, I am wrong and people aren't reaching 50 posts as quickly as I thought, I will consider lowering the threshold. But i would prefer not to.

It's not a bad idea for the FSOT. Too many scammers in this day and age.

What's nice about this place is you get stars for participation, not money. That Greene fellow was always grubbing for star money.

There are no hosting costs, maintenance costs, programmer costs, no costs at all. But Mike posted something somewhere with an email address if you wanted to send him the occasional donation for his troubles. Part of the reason I suggested Proboards is so who ever ran a replacement site wouldn't need to grub for money all the time or find advertisers. It could just be pure entertainment and not a business.
I don't know what you all see here but I use adblock and don't see any site ads. What I *do* see is this big block above every page from ProBoards:
"Support the services you love. $2.99/month gets you unlimited ad-free browsing of all the ProBoards forums you are a member of. Click here to subscribe!"
No complaints from me, they are providing a helluva service to us.

Chris is correct, no money is required, requested, or needed. At least 20 people asked me about donating, or offered to donate, despite my telling them it wasn’t required, so I put a post in Town Hall with the address for PayPal. It’s 100% optional and you get nothing in return other than me saying “Thanks”.
That said, I do like the idea of a “Supporting Member” designation for those who do. I may implement that, and allow the donor to opt out if they don’t want to be recognized.

Some people might suggest donating it to a charity in the name of this joint, but if they like a charity, they should send the $$ directly.

I put in a ton of work and continue to do so. If there turns out to be a flow of money, I’ll be happy to buy a domain name, etc., see how it can be spent on the site. But as I am not asking for money nor really offering anything for it, I don’t think it’ll be an issue. As I said in the other thread, bconsider it a virtual tip jar for my efforts.

Just a suggestion, but I’m 70, and I don’t think I’m a junior anything.
Instead, after 50 posts, how about Journeyman?
Thank you youngsters for listening.

I was going to make it “Tiny Member” but thought that might be offensive to some.
I’m open to serious suggestions, we have five levels. I basically just kept them as what ProBoards has. If someone can come up with a music related 5 category system, I’m all ears.
