Seems I remember someone here trying to sell 2 of them for 3800. 1495 seems like a good price. Love the surf green / maple combo. That's probably a fair price, but I don't see anyone who was never an FDP member paying that. I would've liked to have one, now I barely play anymore and couldn't justify a $1,495 guitar. Or two for $3800. Agreed. To an ex fdper those guitars have value. Outside of us, probably not. I quit trying to figure value anymore . It is whatever we can get or whatever we are willing to pay for something.

That seems high, I wonder how much it actually sold for.

I had #3 briefly. Never bonded with the guitar and sold it early in its life. Can't say I miss it.

I still own #42. Rosewood fretboard with matching headstock. Never ever played it. (I'm more of a Tele guy.) Dead mint, still brand new. It's been under my bed for decades in the original mailing box. The plastic protector is still on the pickguard, the red trem screw sticker is still on it and the G&G case still has the scratch protectors on the two locks . All the goodies/case candy and the certificate signed by then-CEO Schultz are there too.

Two and a half years have passed since my last post on this thread and I still have the guitar under my bed, in the box, in the case, still unplayed, dead-mint and now for sale. Should someone be interested in purchasing it, let me know. I'll check here from time to time.

They were two piece bodies, normally used for transparent finishes.

I am currently Strat-less and obsessing over these again. If anyone has a rosewood, painted headstock one they’re looking to unload, let me know!

I still have #2.. Rosewood and painted headstock.
Price is one meeeelion dollars.
Adjusted for inflation, of course.

I couldn’t give #25 away. I actually sold it for $800 a few years back. One of the few guitar sales I’ve taken a loss on over the years.

Is this even possible 'now' to commission a small batch from Fender for a chat group?

I’d build a batch.
They’d be weird, though. Just sayin’

Is this even possible 'now' to commission a small batch from Fender for a chat group? Yes. FDP did it through Guitar Trader, remember, not straight from Fender. It's on par with a Wildwood order or a Chicago Music Exchange order - you put in for X, they deliver those specs in the quantity ordered.

Not quite.. Fender did all the arrangements, but they can't sell direct to the consumer.. hence Guitar Trader.

Back in those days it felt like more of a direct connection between Fender and the FDP than what you would have today doing a small batch order. I was stationed overseas at the time and couldn’t swing it.

I couldn't swing it either. And well, the FDP didn't pay nearly enough to consider one at any point.
Irony of ironies.
The thing was at the time we were an unofficial arm of Fender - they used us for their support forums etc so it did feel different.

Fearless Leader didn't even keep up his promises to me more often than not.
I wasn't even offered a chance to *BUY* the place, let alone be ..given it.

Well I’m over it for now (again). For what the LEs go for when available, I’d be better off getting an Ultra or American Professional II model should I pursue a Strat.
