They were being blown out awhile back for half price, and I kinda wished I'd picked one up. Not clear if they're in production, as the big stores don't seem to have them, and I'm not spending $280 on a pedal anyways. Anybody ever try one?

It has to be intentional. No one is that naive. I had an opportunity to buy a Friedman Pink Taco amp for a good price. I turned it down because of the name. Imagine me playing it at church.

Certainly intentional. Somebody thought they were being funny, but I’m guessing the name was too problematic in the marketplace. Would anybody want a “Bulging Crotch” pedal? Don’t answer....

This OT, but I've got to get it off my chest. The name puts me off right out of the gate. Not being a prude, it just has nothing to do what the pedal is about, which makes it gratuitous. Glenn Fricker, a studio engineer who runs a successful YT channel for people into metal, has a pedal out that he calls the "C*ckblocker." It's a noise gate, which makes the name rude and funny. IMO, the guys at Way Huge are acting like high school d*cks.

It’s small thinking to name a product something that could be construed as offensive to some. Why intentionally limit your market?
If you want church players to buy your fuzz pedal, don’t put Satan on it.
But, if you don’t want to sell as many pedals...

I liked the demos, and the half price was tempting, as I'd just put tape over the stupid name, but decided to not bother, as I have plenty of pedals. Considering what the new retail price is/was, somebody made a really stupid marketing blunder. This was noted in reviews at the time it came out.

I had one of the originals when Way Huge was an independent company. It was a combination of the Green Rhino and Swollen Pickle overdrives (IIRC) in one pedal. It sounded great, but I rarely used it and a pal of mine made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Those old ones are sort of like original Klons today: they fetch stupid money.
Edited a few days later: Not the Swollen Pickle. The Red Llama.

They need to come out with the Moose knuckle metal pedal.

The other guitar player in a band I was in had one, and he loved it. I have to say, it did sound great!
Then, he and the drummer decided to start a worship band, and ours broke up. I wonder if he's using that pedal in the worship band?!

Pink Taco, Brown Eye, Buxom Betty, Dirty Shirley Nice amps I'm sure but sounds like an 11 year old is in charge of marketing

Unfortunately a lot of companies/makers believe “any publicity is good publicity.” Regardless of how good or who uses a Friedman amp or pedal, I will never try one as the lack of judgment in their name choices force me to irrevocably call all their other decisions into question.
Sincerely, a guy who stopped using Dean Marlkleys after their “edgy” 90s Guitar for the Practicing Musician ads.

I've been out of the loop for about 10 years. I have a Fulltone Fulldrive II Mosfet. Are those passé now? Still sounds great to me. I've noticed the larger companies make stuff that looks boutique now.

Electro Harmonix started it like fifty years ago with the Muff Fuzz and then the Big Muff Pi.
So once again, it's the hippys fault

I have no problem with the name at all. Or with the other names for amps and pedals. The sound and usefulness is what is really important and a WHOLE bunch of rock n'roll (even the name itself) is not for those too prudish !

Apparently it’s Mike Campbell’s #1 drive pedal.

I look at the silly-named guitar junk the same way I do beer and wine; if it's got a stupid name I just look past it. Makes it easier to choose in a saturated market. Without some way to narrow down the options I'd still be standing in front of the coolers at closing time, unhappily sober.

Weird thread bump.
There's a very good brewery in the northeast that names beers after Kierkegaard books, so maybe we don't have to put up with stupid names!
When I see that pedal I'm not bothered that it is a stupid name or that the marketing might be more focused on grabbing attention than the quality of the item. I'm more bothered that everyone seems surprised when despite young women having an amazing proclivity to taking up musical instruments we've pretty much lost the entire market. Wonder why....

Yeah, I was reading the “Princeton” thread, and the YouTube post showed Mike Campbell’s rig. I noticed he uses one of these.

He's used 'em since the mid 90s. When he was touring with Tom, he'd cruise the local guitar joints and snap up originals whenever he found one.
