He’s coming to town, in May, and I got us tickets.
I last saw him in Oct. 2001. He was big on story telling and I don’t know if he ever finished a song.
What’s his show like these days?

The last time I saw him was 2016 I think. I had seen him at least once a year for the half dozen years or so previous. When buddy was playing he was great -- I actually like the stories and yeah, not finishing some of the songs is part of his shtick. He always engages the audience and almost always does the thing where he walks up and down the aisles in the venue playing and handing out guitar picks. This is all great.
The downside is he plays half a show and then turns it over to his rugrat protege Quinn Sullivan. Maybe it was cute when the kid was twelve but it got old fast.
I paid to see Buddy, not a Joe Bonamassa wannabee with half the chops and not an ounce of soul.

I saw Buddy around that time (with the young lad) too. He did *most * of the show by himself.
I wonder if Buddy just didn’t t have enough gas left in the tank to do a full show...... that particular night you saw him. He’s no spring chicken.

Hello everyone, first post. My wife and I are going see Buddy Guy this Saturday @ the Rialto Theater in Joliet, Il. We've seem him numerous times, never disappoints. The best shows we saw were at his original club in Chicago on Wabash early/mid nineties. I'll let you know how this show turns out.

Please do, if he still has it, I might try to find a show.

I'm going to see him this summer. Seen him more times than I can count. He still does the same schtick that he's done since my first time. It's always entertaining, though. Yes, he seemed to talk more and play less last year. His love of Cognac has not seemed to have diminished, though. His roadie keeps bringing refills in a coffee cup throughout the show. This time he has Jonny Lang opening for him. Seen him and Jonny together before and was disappointed that he didn't have Jonny come and play Midnight Train together. Now I realize he's not having anybody up there that might upstage him, even if they had a minor hit with it back in the day. Buddy's Buddy... you either love him or not. I still love him.

Saw him a few years back in Milwaukee, small venue, he came up and sat at our table and played his ass off for about 2 minutes. Great concert and he was in fine form.

The show this past Saturday in Joliet, Il.(sold out) was great. An 83 year old blues legend doing it like only Buddy can. If you like him, see him.

Saw him last year, typical play for a bit, tell a story, play some more. He was great and the list of blues legends is getting smaller.
