Are Nocasters OK? With a humbucker? Nice! It looks like it needs a little paint where your arm rests, though! It's alright. I've just bought some white emulsion that'll fix it up just fine.

Had an early 60's Tele that I loved and stupidly sold it back in the 80's. I have never had any luck with Teles since. I finally figured what I need in a Tele and bought three this past year. '52 Reissue with a roasted maple neck, CS Thinline Paisley and a 50's Vintera model. All are exceptional and have really enjoyed getting my "twang" back playing these things. Now I've got to decide which to keep! Attachments:

I have 4 or 5 but really I pretty much default to just one. Here is my 'go to' 52 HR SD Tele. Fender issued it for a couple years and then discontinued the line. Although the selling point was the Seymour Mini there is something about that really hot bridge pick up that cuts through.
The neck is really comfortable. But it is a 21 fret model which sometimes make it hard to get that high D. You can see me pushing hard to hit it around the :50 sec mark. I have 10s on that guitar but I"m thinking of dropping to 9s.
Here is my absolutely favorite "run into a burning building to save it' 52 RI Tele through a DRRI jamming with some friends.

Kinda funny. When I went tele shopping we lived in a pretty remote rural area. I literally played every tele I could find in about a 70 mile radius. I ended up buying the 1st one I tried. A black MIM. I liked it a lot. The I put on vintage noiseless puck ups and 4 way switching and just didn't like it so much. My wife gave me a G&L and I ended up never playing the tele. Sold it. Oh well.

After 38 years I am retiring from my job. Eventually, though, I'll let one or two go.

Are Nocasters OK? With a humbucker? Oh yes! Didn’t Fender make one called the Fat telecaster? Years ago.

Larry, did you have a pedal in that clip. Nice midrange!

I'm sure I had pedals. I change my board often but don't use a whole lot. I would have used a small board for that rehearsal with maybe 4 or 5 pedals max.
Polytune Fulltone Fulldrive MFST Strymon Deco DD7
I am guessing the Fulltone is the dominant sound shaper here.

Proud owner of a 55 ThinSkin and patiently waiting for delivery of a 62 Dave's Reissue Tele this afternoon!! Once upon a time. All are gone, but not forgotten. I'll snap a new family pic upon arrival.

I have a closet full of teles, MIM to vintage to custom shop. Simply the perfect electric guitar. The “best” one is probably a CS nocaster relic that plays and sounds great but I’m embarrassed to take it out of the house because of the fake wear. I’m old and and crabby though, and it’s none of my business what anyone else plays.

Which switch do y'all prefer top hat or barrel? My preference is barrel.
I don't have any Fender Telecasters but I have five "Tele style". I've got an Agile and 4 SX. Agile is vintage white w/ GFS rail buckers. 2 SX double bound red bone stock the other black with GFS Neovin pickups. Another SX in natural Ash bone stock and finally a powder blue "Nashville" that I installed Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups in I bought off Reverb.
I know they aren't "real" Teles but I love the SX necks. Also, my Mother-in-Law bought the SX's one at a time as Christmas and birthday presents over the last few years which makes them special to me.

The Tophat looks cooler but is easier to bump accidentally.

Man, I love Telecasters! In fact, most of my electric guitars have been Teles! My first electric back in 1978 was a blonde 68 with a maple cap neck. I then traded that in for a 63 factory custom coloured red Esquire (with added neck pickup). I've owned a 52 blackguard reissue, a Custom Shop '59 relic Esquire, a 55 sunburst reissue, a white guard 50's blonde partscaster, and I have a 59 blonde slab Tele at present. I've also owned or still own an early 70's sunburst Les Paul Deluxe, a couple of R8s, and my 63 Les Paul Junior; (SG) but my mainstay has always been a Telecaster... Here's a pic of the day I traded my 68 for the 63. This was in the late 70's or early 80's. Yes, I painted the 68's pickguard black.

What was the source of the ebony neck.?
I would like an ebony board and 1 3/4" nut width.

I have two Tele partscasters that I built. One is a Warmoth boat neck with heavy birdseye and a contour body with vintage style pups and the other is a partscaster made of all fender parts. The neck is an MIM with vintage specs and the body is MIJ ash clear coat with vintage Fender pups and bridge that really love.

I still have my Tele. I had forgotten I had a second one until a couple of months ago when my former employee-nurse asked me about the "electric guitar I gave her" when I downsized a few years ago. A Squier Telecaster
