Peegoo What was the source of the ebony neck.? I would like an ebony board and 1 3/4" nut width. Made years ago by wrnchbndr. You can order a neck from Warmoth with any woods/frets you like.

I posted a G&L Legacy in the Strat thread and now this. My apologies - I guess I'm a G&L fan. But my bass is a 2006 American Deluxe Fender Jazz from when I went to the dark side and played bass for a few years. I ordered this Sparkle Black ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow probably in 2002 or so. I also got the natural woood binding and color-matched headstock. This color was discontinued right after I placed the order. Looking back this was a bargain for about $1200. The light weight was a stark contrast to the LP Standard that I mainly played. I think it's around 7# but I don't remember. My LP is 9#. At some point in the past few years, I wanted a more traditional Tele so I had this tortoise pickguard made (previous was black with a Seth Lover HB) and put in some BYO Vortex Vintage Hot pickups. Those are great pickups by the way. I used to be a boutique snob, but I don't care anymore. I was thinking of selling this to buy a PRS SE Semi-Hollow, but I just set it up after not much use and it really is a fine instrument. It just rings! I'll probably hold onto it since it is a bit sentimental.

Can I join? I just bought an Affinity Tele last week. Why wouldn't you? 😉 As I posted on the first page of this thread I have an Affinity Tele. I also posted I have two Affinity Teles. Play out with them too. They play and sound like the proverbial "a million bucks". Paid $183 new for each less than a year ago. 😁

I seem to be photo posting challenged. But I'll see if I can figure it out.

My first electric was a Tele. I have others and have gigged others but I always come back to a Tele. Current is a 60th Anniversary with CS Texas Specials. If I could only keep one..........

I have found that teles are easier for me to play. Even though I play the rotation with my others I always come back to the teles.

That looks like Mopar green from the early 70s!
That Dustpan looks awesome. Color, scoop, wheels. I think you answered the question previously asked (is it a Dart or a Duster). Dustpan would make it a Duster, No???

I have three Telecasters. All with maple fingerboards. A black Squier Affinity Telecaster, a butterscotch Squier Affinity Telecaster, and a Mexican Tele in Electron Green. Put on your shades: Wow, I've never seen a Tubescreamer green Tele! Cool!

What a great thread. As usual, I'm a little late getting here. I just picked up a MIJ lefty tele and would like to replace the pickups. Any suggestions on higher output ones that I can play '90s alternative rock on?
(Yes, I have proper humbuckers on my Gibson and Hamer but the tele fits my hand better so I want to be able to use it for the more saturated stuff.) Thanks for the help.

Are you looking to retain a Tele sound with a more assertive output, or take it beyond it's Teleness? Lots of ground in between, from heavier winds to rail type single coil sized humbuckers.

Something thick and crunchy. I am a lead singer and rhythm guitarist. Examples would be on Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind, Plush by STP or All Over You by Live. Yes, I know those guitars have lots of studio magic happening plus flange, etc. Just want something thicker when I'm playing chords. Thanks.

My two office mates. The new guy is on the left. Both MIJs and very comfy to play.

Well it could be argued that many a Tele sets could do that with the right things after the guitar (pedals, amp, etc), but you're probably looking at something like Duncan Quarter Pounders and beyond. I honestly don't have a lot experience with those pickups myself, but I have used one rail type on a Tele with surprisingly good results. I haven't had a lot of luck with Guitar Fetish pickups (they weren't bad, but...meh), however I did use one of their 'Lil Punchers in the bridge of a Tele with a P90 in the neck and it was really good. That's a budget pickup that I think are modeled after Bardens. Maybe Leftee can chime in, I think he's used Quarter Pounders if I'm recalling correctly.

Finally after all these years, I got a pretty good tele - a Shijie TLV Pro in yellow amber (like a dark butterscotch) with black pickguard. Actually, my first good guitar was a tele thinline from back around '72. Natural finish, semi-hollow, mother of toilet seat pickguard, a Fender humbuckers (or whatever those pups were).

Almost a year ago I bought a Fender Player Telecaster, HH. MIM. I've never really ever been a Telecaster person. I got interested in the G & L ASAT, but there were none in the area to be played and tried out. So got the Fender Telecaster. I love the guitar. I play it better than I play any of my other guitars. Here it is. Tidepool Blue

Yes, Qtr Lbs are steroidal Tele pickups. They nudge closer to a P90 tone. They still clean up nicely when rolling back the volume.
This is my latest example:

Love that finish! Funny how our tastes change. The only Tele style guitar I’ve owned (sold it years ago) was a Tom Anderson Hollow T with probably the loudest fire burst finish I’ve ever seen on a guitar. I liked it then, but would hate that color today. Lol

I have only one Tele in my herd, but it's a good one. It started life as an Am Fat Tele. I converted the neck pup to a conventional single coil, with a three way switch. I never bonded with the Fender DH-1 neck 'bucker, and the five position switch with coil tapping didn't do that much for me. This has a RW neck and it one of the best necks of all my guitars. There is nothing like a cranked tube amp with the Tele volume rolled down-so much control and tonal variation. There is not much to tweak, and that's the real beauty of this basic, timeless guitar. They are great.

So I’ve done an fair amount of research on tele pick ups. Opinions seem to be all over the place.
One thing I’d like to know about SD quarter pounders is the noise level. I’ve heard that compared to other higher output tele pick ups, they are a bit on the noisy side. I know that’s probably not much of an issue when I’m playing in a band setting but still….

Been using my 52 AVRI out more, It started because I felt in a rut and needed a kick in the pants. I listened to some recording sessions recently and it doesn't sound like me, and that exactly what I wanted.
Think I've changed my wish list for another. I don't think I would really, really like a gold top Les Paul anyway.
