I'll add Nancy Wilson of Heart to my list. She was better than most people knew and she blazed the trail for many female 6-string rockers.

There are so many. Not counting players that had lots of hit songs--but players that possessed total command of the guitar:
Les Paul Robin Trower Richie Blackmore Frank Marino Sonny Landreth Frank Zappa Randy Rhoads Mike Stern Tommy Emmanuel Roy Buchanan Tuck Andress Redd Volkaert Rory Gallagher Danny Gatton Jeff Beck Steve Vai J.D. Simo Stevie Vaughan Willy Porter Jim Campilongo Greg Koch
I know I've left a bunch off this list.
If you're not familiar with Tuck Andress, check him out. He's usually playing in a duo with his wife Patti, but he has released solo stuff as well. He's a true innovator, and you know it's him just by one note.

"Chieli Minucci"...there's a killer sleeper. I love his playing. I first learned of Special EFX in 1984 and have seen them, and Chieli in others bands, many times since. He's a great musician/composer, and a really nice, down-to-Earth guy.

In my post of a month ago, I had forgotten that I had attended the Louisiana Pop Festival in 1969. It was somewhat of a Woodstock wannabe held at a car racetrack in Gonzales, LA, between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
The Byrds were there, so I saw Roger McGuinn and Clarence White. I believe Chicago (Transit Authority) were there. I don't remember much of them, since I had not yet heard their (first and only at the time) album, but that would have been Terry Kath.

Mark Knopfler last year in Sugar Land would have to qualify.
I don’t normally go to “classic” acts as they tend to violate my rule of not going to concerts that aren’t supporting relevant current music, but that guy continue to produce high-quality output.
