We’ve all had them from time to time. Looking over my inventory, I have 2 strats that have been here a while , a 335 and a couple of Martins. The one guitar that seems not to stick around long seems to be a les Paul. It’s usually the first to go. I prefer a good 335 over a Lester, but there are other reasons. Too heavy , not crazy about the neck or just plain doesn’t get played.
What do you guys have? Any type of guitars that just don’t seem to stick around?

I've had 3 or 4 SHB's that didn't stick around. My current one, a Gretsch Streamliner, may go as well.

Hmm . I can’t say that as I’ve never entertained buying one.

Me either but I imagine they don't stay around too long.

I have owned at least 5 PRS SE guitars, they’re nice but they never wow me enough to stick around.

I might have a go with a CU22 some day.

I've tried two different PRS SE's, I just sold the 2nd one. Nothing wrong with it, I just never bonded with it, and I wasn't crazy about the wide fat neck.

RE: Lefty PRS SEs
A couple (3?) years ago they finally started making a lefty model - the 24. Now the market is flooded with them... new and used. But they’ve made no other models. 🤔

I find the SE colors to be not to my liking, which has kept me from buying one.

None. They all seem to stick around. C'mon, guys, get on the train! The C22 with simple controls like a Tele is a beast of a guitar.

When my wife divorced me in 2007/2008 I bought a Gibson J45 as a "divorce present" to myself.
In 2009 I was laid off. Roll around 2010, trying to make it by on minimum wage, the funds had run out, and I tried to sell everything - car, etc. - but that guitar. Ultimately it went. It's still in the family, but it went along with everything else musical that I had at the time.
I see little point in buying a really swanky guitar. I'll be the custodian of it until life treats me like its butt monkey again and it'll be the only thing of value to get me out of a hole.
I still think about the car I tried to sell and the mistake of buying it in the first place. Eventually I did sell it for 1/10th of what I paid for it. New it was the same price as about 5 Gretsch White Falcons. Had I spent it on a quintet of White Falcons I'd have MADE money, enjoyed myself more, and probably still have at least one knocking about when I want to bust out the Billy Duffy riffs. Funny how cars become a "need" and are quickly worthless.

I never hang on to Les Paul style guitars- I’ve had two Epis, a Gibson and PRS SE wannabe that I just couldn’t bond to. Also had a PRS CU-22 that didn’t hang around either. I may not be a humbucker guy...

Gibson Les Pauls. I've owned at least six of them through the years and have sold every one. However, once I found my Historic R0 the search was over. It is destined to be with me to the end.

I've owned two bought new PRS's, a '91 Signature 24, and a '97 McCarty. They were beautifullly made & comfortable to play, but had the souls of a couple cinder blocks. Sold and never missed.

I've tried to find an LP-type that I can warm up to. I can't recall how many Ibanez Artists, both newer and '80's models, but never got what I was looking for out of them. A few other with humbuckers including a really nice older Epi Dot and a Starcaster MP currently on the block, but I guess I'm just a single coil guy.

Fender Jaguars
Had a 1965 I bought from my uncle that I bugged him to sell me for years. Sold it, meh. I also had a Classic Players version that came out around 2007 or so, sold it too. Double meh.
Les Paul Standards and Customs.
Had 5 at one time, they were all sold. (I will say that I bought a 2012 Les Paul Junior Special with P-90s that will have to be pried from my cold dead hands. It's an AMAZING guitar!)

All this PRS talk, I just gotta tell this story!
In the early 2000s my band was sponsored by Budweiser. Part of the deal was we were given a PRS SE. The deal was, it had to be played for at least one song per gig.
I let the other guitar player play it, I wasn't interested in using it. He never bonded with it either, he tried several sets of pickups, tuners, etc. Still never played or sounded like he liked.
On the last gig we were obligated to play under Bud, he played the guitar like he was supposed to, then smashed it on stage!
Luckily no Bud reps were there for that gig, and we got our payment at the end of the sponsorship.
But how many people can say they got to smash a PRS? LOL

I’m surprised no one has brought up twelve strings.
Much like a boat, their two happiest days are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

I've been playing guitar for 30 years off and on, and only ran across one 12-string that sounded and played great. Surprisingly, it was a Yamaha. But yeah, not my cup-o-tea either.

Never owned a PRS. I've played them in the store and have played friend's. Great build, great sound. They "feel" foreign to me. Maybe if I bought one I'd get use to it but I have enough guitars already anyway.
Two of my favorite players, David Grissom and John Meyer play them.
