Hey! Sorry for the late arrival!
See my dupe thread.
Yeah, I'm thinking of getting one, always kinda dug them. I know they are awkward to play sitting down at first, but I've found I get used to it pretty quickly.
Sweetwater has them for $1699 in natural, and they have a demo for about $170 cheaper if you don't mind a ding and some scratches.

Yep. Love 'em. As 'large' as they appear, there's also a lot of air in between the wooden pointy parts and that makes them surprisingly light in weight: I also have Reverend's version, called the Volcano. The only drawback is playing these when seated, because they don't sit nicely on the leg. But why would you play one while sitting? Put one of your legs between the "V" and it sits kinda like a Flamenco player would play and it's actually pretty comfy, IMO.

You mean like this? The other leg whilst sitting works best for me.

I never did like V's. Just too weird of a shape to be comfortable. Especially when sitting. I never could play one long enough to judge their sound quality. AFAIC it the world's most expensive lawn dart.

To my ear, a Flying V is an SG with a longer body. If you like the tonal aspects of the SG and want something that looks radically different, the V may be just the thing for you.

Love my 2008 Vee, but prefer my 1977 Explorer. Still, the V is a keeper.

I had an Explorer in the 80s and sold it. If I could now find an Explorer with a chunky neck, I'd get another one. Seems to me there are plenty of Vs floating around with fatter necks, but the Explorers are all skinny.

Black w/gold hardware. Fugger sings.

Ha, I'd forgotten I 've got an Explorer. Might have to get it out of the garage and give it a whirl. Must be 5 years since I played it.

Bought my son an Epiphone Korina V. After a proper setup, it was a nice guitar. He doesn't play anymore, so I have it in my closet. I also had an '81 Explorer II. That was a great guitar back when I liked to play some metal. Gorgeous guiar with birdseye maple and a walnut inlay. Unfortunately, I decided it needed a tremolo system installed. I mean, who does like to dive bomb an Explorer while grinding out the metal? The idiot I had install it had no clue what he was doing and didn't use the template correctly and routed it out in the wrong spot. The intonation wasn't even close. I had to take it somewhere else to "fix" it. They did an admirable job and it was much better, but the shine had worn off. I ended up selling it for $500 to buy a Digitech RP12. Oh my, what a mistake that was. Even hacked up as it was, the Explorer was a better choice than that POS. Lessons learned.

I am going to get a Flying V sometime in the near future. I want to be able to actually hold and play one first. Sort of hard to do right now.

It's getting easier to justify pulling the trigger on a V. I just sold a Tele on Reverb, and I'm about to list my Ibanez Jem. So help me out here, should I go ahead and order one? You guys always know best, give me some direction here!!

1. You already know the answer. 2. And you already know how others are always willing to help you spend your own money.

I have a very nice Schecter one, because Gibson didn't make purple. Me, 80 pounds ago or so, guitar is still a fattie.

Yes, very cool color, Rob. The walls in my office are painted pretty much that exact color.
So my new V with be here Saturday!

The thought of parting with my Jem that I had looked for for so long wasn't sitting well with me, so I yanked the Reverb ad. I still have my V on the way, and selling my Tele lessens the sting of the purchase enough that I can sleep well. Looking forward to the Flying V! I got a demo model from Sweetwater, so was a little cheaper and it's pre-banged up! A Relic, if you will!

The only drawback is playing these when seated, because they don't sit nicely on the leg. But why would you play one while sitting? I haven’t gigged since I was a kid, and the main reason I never picked up a V was that I was mostly a couch player.

I got the V yesterday, I've spent collectively a couple hours playing it.
First impression, I surprised at how DIFFERENT it is from a Les Paul, although I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I just assumed it was the same guitar in a different shape. It's a completely different animal.
It's definitely most comfortable playing whilst standing. I ran over all of the tunes I play in my current band. My plan is to use this live, so I want to get really comfortable with it.
It's certainly a looker! There were 3 to pick from, I picked the one that was lightest (although I don't think that was necessary, its extremely light) and I picked the one with the most interesting grain, which happened to be a demo with a couple dings on it.
It probably needs the action lowered, but it's playable for me, I actually prefer higher action than most people.
All in all I'm digging it!

Q: How hard is it to hack into a college's marquee sign? A: Not very--if Peegoo can do it from 1,000 miles away.

Did that amuse the Lead Giraffe Wrangler?
He hasn’t giggled since he was a kid apparently.
