I have blown through several Les Pauls . 2 Les Paul Traditionals , a Studio , a couple of Epis and recently a Classic that I really , really liked . The issue seems to be weight . I have arthritis and pinched nerves in my neck are aggrivated when I play them for any length of time. All of the ones Ive had have been 10-13 lbs. Presently I have a 335 that somewhat tickles the fancy , but on occasion I wouldnt mind having another LP.
So far what I have seen are Custom shops that are well out of my price range , a few Epis that supposedly are around 8 lbs , a few Standards that have the bells and whistles of modern LPs and a Tribute . Honestly the tribute intrigues me the most . Any other recomendations or experience with the said models? Thanks in advance.

The Tribs are great guitars and can be found at nice prices. I’ve got 3. I bought them all NOS for very reasonable $. Turns out I can’t pass up a good deal on a Trib. 😂
They are no-frills offerings, for sure. The one detractor I found was the SG Trib I landed with the 490 humbuckers came stock with 300k volume pots. I swapped those out for 500k to get the proper bright bite they guitar should have. So there’s that to consider. They use a PCB in these too.
The nut slots on mine all needed a little attention. Especially the 2012 and 2013 models.
All of mine are under 9lbs. The SGs are *very* light.
The Tribs with P90s are great right out of the box.

I am going to try a couple today and see what they are like. I am going to try a couple of epis too but the lighter ones can be harder to find.

The Studio Lite was Gibson's first attempt at a weight relieved LP. They can be had for reasonable prices. I had one that sounded good with a set of 57 Classics. I don't remember the exact weight, but it was less than 8 lbs. I sold it because I never bonded with the neck and scratched that itch with a chambered Warmoth Tele body and a MIM Tele neck.

They're pricey but many of the Historic Reissues are light. Mine is 8.8 lbs. I know, probably out of your price range though.
Chambered Les Pauls also, I was just watching a rig rundown the other day and Brad Whitford had just gotten one, and he was bragging about how good it sounded. They make chambered Studio's also, or did at one time anyway.

Wait... I have 4 Tribs. 😂 The Gold Top I have is a ‘17 Trib HP. I got that at a great price, last month, from Sam Ash. I ditched the robo-tuners and the chrome hardware. There were cream rings under the chrome rings. It looks like a regular LP, now, except for the titanium nut. I like the nut. Great concept! It plays and sounds great! ‘57 Classic and ‘57 Classic + pickups. It has a PCB but it also has 500k pots, so no need to fool with the electronics. It weighs 7lbs 14oz. The finish is satin Gold Top. A little fine rubbing compound and a soft cloth and it shined up to look more like a regular Gold Top. Even with the tuner swap I’m into this guitar for less than $800.
The walls are a work in progress.

So I took a trip to the local GC to check out a few options. Briefly played the Epi Lp pro. Not bad , but not terribly light either. Pickups weren’t bad , but the tone knobs weren’t terribly responsive and the fretwork was not good.
Picked up the Tribute in honeyburst. Man is that thing light. Picked it up and noticed there was fret sprout . Played it unplugged and . The relief was a little high for my liking , but whatever. It played great though. Not as slim as most necks, rounder and with more shoulder. Plugged it into a deluxe reverb and letr rip. Great clean sound. Got a good deal on it and they restrung it and fixed the fret sprout. Took it home and played it for a while . Great guitar and it only weighs 7 lbs 8 oz!

If you're looking for a lightweight Les Paul that is reasonably priced, your best bet will be a Tribute model. Huge bang for buck. I have a 2010 goldtop with P90s and it weighs 7.9 lbs. No bling on it; no binding, a screen printed headstock, satin/unpolished finish, etc., but as guitars go (playability and tone), it kills. You can choose between a thinner 60s neck carve or a fatter 50s carve. If you can find it in your heart to liquidate some gear and pool your resources, a chambered Les Paul is a thing of beauty because they are featherweight in comparison to other Les Pauls...even the weight relieved ones. This 2014 CR8 weighs in at 7.2 lbs and is awe inspiring. Hands down the best guitar I've ever played, and I've played a bunch, new and old. Click the pic to enlarge

I’m gonna look at those as a retirement gift to myself when I retire as I’ll have some extra money for something special. Yes pics when I get a chance too .

Bill, Brad's Music Man looks intriguing, although we'll likely never seen them in lefties.
Eric, that Goldtop is gorgeous!

I’ve got a Les Paul Studio plus with 57classics. Bought it from Tygr1 from the previous FDP. It plays and sounds great. It weighs 7.8 lbs. and I love it.

My Edwards LP weighs 8 lbs, 7 oz. It's a dream date. (Note: NOT chambered)

I have a bunch of Les Pauls the lightest is my ES Les Paul. It sounds great but has a tendency to feedback in even moderate gain situations. The other really light one is my main guitar, Custom Shop Les Paul Axcess with a Floyd, super light, killer pickups, plays amazing and around 7.5 lbs

57s are my favorite also. I also had an Ibanez AS80 with them in that too. Great sounding anchor so I had to say goodbye and wished it well.

Ever try an ES-Les Paul? I bought one used solely as a platform for some special pickups I own for well under $2K. Not as high quality as my R8 but still a great playing, sounding guitar and guessing weighs under 7 pounds.
