Hopefully I haven't croaked from coronavirus by the time they get here.
Looking forward to irritating the family with brand new noise boxes. Nothing like a captive audience!

Looking forward to your reviews!
At a respectable social distance, of course.

My 4x12 cabinet makes up for any distance they think they can put between me and their ears!

I've had the Micro Vibe for many years...great pedal. About three years in, the switch stopped working. I was going to do the fix myself, but I couldn't find the same switch from the usual vendors. I called Voodoo Labs about getting a switch for it, and they asked me to mail them the pedal. About a week later the pedal appeared in my mailbox, new switch expertly replaced. No charge.
Amazing.

Yep, I love Voodoo Labs. Right now I only have the tremolo pedal but I've had others over the years and am impressed by their quality.

I was surprised a Boss OD-1 was considered a Tube Screamer.

Doesn't quite seem to fit, does it?

I think the SD-1 is more a TS than a OD-1.

I've never owned an OD-1, but supposedly its the same (or similar) circuit as the TS-808 without a tone control.
*shrugs*

Well... there you go!
I really don’t know a who lot about Boss pedals. I was modding SD-1s a year or two ago.

I think the SD-1 is more a TS than a OD-1. I would agree with this. I had an SD-1 and never felt the need for an actual TS. Unfortunately, it quit working. I really need to learn how to fix pedals, I've got a few that need repair.

When the topic came up I was intrigued and watched the Sweetwater video. It's pretty cool how they layered in all those variations, but there have been so many variations and improvements since then nothing grabbed me. I have an old TS-5 Soundtank, which is the TS9 in a plastic housing. The switch is funky and needs repair, but I never use it , so put it on the list....

Some of those 5 series pedals were really good sounding. They were just reportedly plagued with crappy switches like you mention, although I never had one go out personally. I still have a few in the pile of old gear somewhere, I think the delay, chorus, and a flanger.

Both of these pedals are really good. And the compliment each other nicely too.
Right now I'm running my '76 Strat into both of them, then into an Electro-Harmonix Mig-50 tube head, into an Ampeg 4x12 cab with Celestions.
I'm getting really good approximations of Hendrix's tone from Woodstock, no joke!

Some surprises with the Tubescreamer pedal:
My favorite tones are the Metal Screamer setting (which is not metal at all), and the Polish Exar pedal settings.
I'm surprised that my least favorite settings are the two boutique settings, the Keely and the JHS mod.
Not surprisingly, I really don't care for the Boss sound either. Too brittle and ear piercingly high end, even with the tone all the way at minimum.
And not surprisingly I love the TS-7 in hot mode setting, I have three TS-7s.
It's a keeper! Super happy!

How are you liking the Micro Vibe?
I had one for a year or so, but it always seemed anemic compared to their Analog Chorus (which I love) so I let it go. However, given the raves it seems to get across the board I’ve always wondered if I picked up a lemon.

I've never owned any Vibe-type pedals. Which as mentioned in my Star Spangled Banner thread in Moe's, seems odd since I'm a huge Hendrix fan. I dig it.

Interestingly, I bought the Micro Vibe after spending a day watching Paul Gilbert videos.
It's weird how things work out sometimes.

Have you done a side by side with the TS-7s you have?
After I dragged out the crippled Soundtank, I also remembered I have a FZ-7, the fuzz. It's pretty good. Three "damage " settings, from 0 to 10% to 100% , the last being sputtering static.

No I actually haven't thought about that, but it might be interesting. Two of the three TS-7s are modded, but I couldn't tell you who did the mods. I acquired them from the guy who had them modded, and I'm sure he told me but at the time it went in one ear and out the other. Maybe I'll do a side by side with the stock one.
