"Is it on Roulette? If so I don't think their were notes, it's a compilation"
Yep -- Roulette. It's clearly a compilation with several different bands.

A real hair raiser, Mclaughlin & Santana, A Love Supreme: I have that album from back in the day! Took me many years to understand it. I had a quad version of it back in the day, 1973 IIRC....I wore it out I played it so much, I had the only quad vinyl setup in my area, friends were blown away by it. That album cranked is INTENSE.

Spinning Alice Cooper's School's Out on vintage vinyl, the LP cover folds into a school desk, Luney Tune is now playing: the flat one standing up is the LP cover folded as a school desk top:

Another record I bought second hand but hadn't listened to -- Grover Washington Jr. "Soul Box". My copy is Quadraphonic. I've never owned a Quad system but this set sounds great in stereo. There's a lot to like here -- some smooth jazz, lots of funk, and a bit of hard bop. I don't know why I waited so long to play it.

I got it on vinyl when it was released (77?), and picked it up again on CD/ download a couple of years ago.

Return of the Grievous Angel: A Tribute to Gram Parsons.
It's been a long time I listened to this, I just remembered how good it is. Here is Lucinda Williams and David Crosby singing the title cut. She's got some pipes and though it remains true to the original. this rocks too.
and for comparison, the wonderful original:

I ran across my Steppenwolf 7 LP today which I haven't listen to in years -- like 20. I took the record out to give it a clean and remembered why I haven't listened to it -- a friend borrowed it sometime in the 80s and trashed it. It took me a while to adopt the policy of not lending my records -- but I finally did. But there were casualties along the way.
Anyway, I ordered the CD on Amazon which includes an automatic MP3 download, so I'm listening to that now.
I always liked this record -- I should have replaced the LP sooner. A lot of great tunes that you almost never heard on the radio.

Now I'm hooked on Mandrill. I don't know how I missed them in the 70's.

Now I'm hooked on Mandrill. I don't know how I missed them in the 70's. Cool! I'm glad! Sadly, issue was no radio airplay back then. They had a few LP's that were good, but the one I posted here IMO is their best.
