In the waning days of the FDP, I got into the habit of going first to Sweetwater, since they supported the FDP to the end, unlike Musician’s Friend and Guitar Center. So Sweetwater is where I am conditioned to go now. I have all three places bookmarked on my iPhone (or maybe one or more are apps), since the end of the FDP, since I always went there from the FDP links.
Sweetwater does have the easiest-to-navigate site, although none of them have really quick filtering. And my brother told me that he got his guitars from Sweetwater, when i asked him where he got all of them. He told me they are really good folks.
I have got equipment from there as well as the other two sites mentioned.

Well...I really like the guitars I have. So I don't get the itch, personally. However, I do enjoy window shopping periodically and, yes...Sweetwater is a great place to go for that. For me, even better, I enjoy seeing the really trick stuff that Wildwood Guitars carries. Plus you often get the bonus of a Greg Koch test drive.

I'll usually start with Sweetwater, but won't overlook Musician's Friend either. But more often than not I look at Warmoth and MJT on eBay for bodies/necks of interest.

I always start with Ebay to see if there's deals, but seems like I usually end up at Sweetwater.

I usually start right here. They're about an hour and a half north of me, so if they have something I like, ROAD TRIP!

I always start with the shop a couple of blocks from my house, Cask Music. They're a very small outfit—mom and pop, except they're two youngish guys—but their inventory is eclectic and good fun. I do pretty much all of my buying there. Long and McQuade, the main retail chain in Canada, is very good, but I prefer to support my local stores. There's also the 12th Fret, which is arguably the closet thing we have to a Gruhn guitars in Canada. Great shop and not too far from me, but somewhat out of my snack-bracket when it comes to disposable income. (Disposable income. Ha! Remember that?)

Langford, do you know Dave (DWOFS) Reaume? He's pals with the Cask guys. Dave is a nut!

The old standbys. Wildwood, Dave's Guitar's. There's a great local place here in Seattle that has a nice website. They carry a ton of high end Fender, Gibson and PRS all the way to Squire and Epiphone. Cool shop that's close by where I live. I try to avoid it...

Peegoo 🏁 ... No, I haven't met Dave. I'll ask the guys about him, though. Toronto is under a state of emergency and the shop is closed. But I'll be there as soon possible.

In the past it was Musicians Friend but found they were hit and miss on QC (if they even have one). Now i use Sweetwater. For 3 years now I have had near zero issues with guitars and equipment that I have ordered there. Can't think of the name now but there was a place in Kansas City that I believe JHawkr mentioned once that had good prices and few issues. Haven't seen them in several years and now can't remember the name.

I am not afraid to buy used, so the LA CL is really easy to pull up and shop on. Next is Reverb.com for me. I am more comfortable with staying away from the larger retailers. Living in the LA area, I also checkout Pit Bull Audio in San Diego is a business that I look up and shop once in a while. They stock G&L Teles and other G&L guitars, and I am sold on that brands quality. Love their stuff. And really, who can’t use another Tele?

I look everywhere, but Sweetwater really goes the extra mile. I really appreciate that the guitars are weighed! All things being equal, weight matters for me.

Yes, and I have my own personal sales person (that covers a number of buyers) that calls me days after receiving my guitar to ask how it it doing for me. They very helpful, courteous and responsive.

I haven’t bought new since 2008, so my online haunts are Elderly, Willie’s in St. Paul and reverb.

What do you mean the guitars are weighed? I was curious as to the weight of my Strat and wanted to see home much the LPs weigh, since they are supposed to be so heavy. I did not see any weights in the specs of guitars on the site.

I look at Sweetwater and MF a lot. Sometimes Dave’s, Wildwood, Willcutt. Also Zzounds and AMS.
I’ve bought a couple of guitars over the years from EM Shorts (including a Custom Shop Strat) because their prices are great. But they’ve never had a great website with up-to-date stock showing.

For electrics it used to be Guitar Trader although most of the time I would just shop right at the store, just down the road where I worked. God I miss that place.
These days online I usually start with local CL and then maybe check out Sweetwater.
For acoustics there are too many to list, but I do like Gryphon Stringed Instruments and Elderly Instruments.

I usually peruse CL, and Facebook Marketplace. FB Marketplace has the real added advantage of tying equipment to a usually real person on Facebook. You can go to his/her, uhh, it's always his, page and see if he's real. I've had some super-pleasant dealings, which reminds me of the way Gear Page and Harmony Central USED to be back in the day. If anything tickles my fancy, THEN I go to Sweetwaters or the like, get a lot more info, and then a Google search, leading to YouTube and other sites for info.
It's a great way to learn about new things, and kill time during pandemics...
