I have two. One, I’ve completely forgotten how to clean my house. When my wife was 9 months pregnant, we decided to get a cleaning service to make things easier. Well, that has lasted 13 years and I haven’t actually cleaned since. Sure, I’ve swept up a mess or mopped a little, but cleaning the entire bathroom, etc., I don’t remember what to use and such. Yes, I figured it all out, but still. Second, I received a full zip fleece jacket from Columbia at Christmas time, and wore it only once or twice. While here in exile, I decided to take all of my spring/summer clothes out of storage and put away all of my long sleeve sweatshirt type shirts. Then the weather got cold. Now I have been wearing this fleece like 18 hours a day. I now love it, so comfortable, warm but not too warm, it can be a jacket itself, it can be another layer under a lighter jacket. Usually when I find something I like, I start buying it in multiple colors. I looked and guess what, end of the season and they’re on sale. I ordered two more colors. The cheapest price I found: BelkBut they are available many places. I will add, mine is a “tall” size, which I usually don’t require at 6’1”, but the sleeves were too short on the regular length (I have a 37” sleeve). Have you had any revelations while having time to yourself?

Oh yeah. The big one: I have had to put my money where my mouth is, because I would put off around-the-house jobs with the excuse that I always had something else (usually away from home) going on. And there is still *way more* to do than I have the time to do it. Not complaining...just an observation of the truth

I spend no time at our house in town past a few minutes. The house in the country is on a few acres with BLM across the road and our closest two neighbors each a half mile away. I like being here and have for 25+ years now. There's little I haven't discovered other than it gets dusty more quickly than I'd like (not surprising considering our environment) and there's too many trees needing pruning. I'm lazy by nature so some things get put off longer than they should.

"Have you had any revelations while having time to yourself?"
I had been working from home for years before I was downsized about a year and a half again. My wife has been working outside the house four days a week -- which has been a nice balance. Being on my own most days with just my dog for company has been quite relaxing.
Now that my wife is home all the time, I no longer have time to myself.

Its past time to clean the windows. Oh yeah, that too. I do my best to ignore them. I wish the wife would adopt my policy.

I'm less aware of what day of the week it is. There was a familiar "ebb & flow" pattern to traffic (both pedestrian and vehicular) in our area that made weekdays easier to differentiate from weekends and even indicated time of day. I at least walk the dogs every day, but most people are keeping to their homes and fenced yards, so there's a monotonous "sameness" to the general activity levels in the neighborhood now (little or none) that this situation has really settled in.
Strangely, the coyotes that were getting more and more active, day & night, only 4-6 weeks ago, have all but disappeared from our immediate area. I haven't even heard them at all at night lately and I think I've seen only 2 during the past 3 or so weeks. Have no idea why that is, but can only guess that they have coincidentally exhausted the prey opportunities here and so moved elsewhere to seek more bountiful pickings.
I have plenty that needs doing around the yard (fence replacement, drainage revision), but keep putting it off because it's been raining a lot and also because I don't particularly want to go "mingle" at Home Despot to secure some of the goods I need in order to complete these tasks. I know that's weak, but it's the excuses I's goin' wit...

Starting get that feeling around here
Most of my week was scheduled around practice with the various people I play with but everything has been called off and with no sport to mark the weekend everyday is drifting into the same routine.
Exercise, play guitar, read for a while, play guitar, internetting, play guitar
it could be worse
My windows need cleaning, I'll get around to it soon.......

At some point I managed to lose the keys to my truck in my house. I have lost two knives that are in the house. One of them (my old Buck Folding Hunter) has been gone for 15 years or more but I know it's in here somewhere!

I found my lost 35 year old Swiss Army Knife in a box filed and labeled by my wife : "Yard Sale".
I also found an 8 oz bottle of pure Aloe Gel in a first aid kit in our Highlander.

Nervous energy means that the yard is in better shape than it normally is at this point in early spring. The garden tractor is all tuned up and the weed wacker has already done some work. Also spring cleaning is happening sooner and better in the house. The cleaning people won't be here until this is over, but I think we're doing a better job than they do. Having been a janitor when I was in undergrad school is basic training that has always been handy.

Well, I've been retired since October 2017. I wanted to play my guitars more, but my wife was always coming up with other things to do. But recent events have but a limit on those other things to do. I have discovered that I can indeed play barre chords on my acoustic, even with its higher action and larger gauge strings than my electrics. At this rate I might put my capo on ebay. No, I don't think I'll do that. Things may get back to normal.

Today, I found that even taking the garbage to the dump can be a good "break from the action", after being cooped up for so long. It's about a 5 mile round trip, and I drove slower than usual, just to stretch it out.

Had to buy a third. Found the hammer my dad gave me, it was behind the dryer.

Well, it's a funny thing.... Found out in mid-February that I needed surgery on my right (and dominant) elbow for a torn ligament and tendon. Couldn't figure out where I could spare 8-10 weeks of no weight bearing anything on my arm. Planned trip to NOLA in April, moving the kids home from school in early May, moving my son to Boston for work in June, and moving my daughter back to school in August. Decided sooner was better than later, so had it done on February 28th. 2 weeks in a plaster "splint", and a very manageable, removable brace after the splint. The kids are now home doing eLearning for the rest of the semester, my wife is a teacher and has been home, and work has us all working from home. Other than putting dishes in the dishwasher left-handed, and pounding beer with my son right-handed, life is about as good as it's going to get in this current mess.

I lost an engraved swiss army knife I got in Grindelwald Switzerland as a teenager. Finally found it many years later in an old tackle box I'd forgotten about. I'm sure I'll lose it again someday..

I don't think I've seen my wife so relaxed in 33 years of knowing her. Absolutely easy to be around. It's nice.
I finally got the garage reorganized. I just kind of threw up some shelves and stacked stuff on them randomly when we moved in 2.5 years ago, and figured I'd organize it someday. Well, someday has arrived and I've been out there for a few hours a day all week, and the garage looks great! A place for everything and everything in its place. I built a nice workbench too, and reorganized my toolbox.
The last thing to do is to hang my old band's banner on the wall out there. It's actually a pretty cool banner, I'll get a kick out of seeing it again. It hasn't seen daylight for 10 years now.

That if I wasn't walking the dogs 2-3 miles every day, I'd probably already be feeling pretty boxed in. All of our state parks and state beaches are closed for the indefinite future and since I've been a longtime regular at the local state beaches, I'm really missing being able to go there to recharge my batteries.
Imagine an alcoholic who's been shooed out of the bar at closing time. He goes back the next day, but the bar doesn't open...or the next day...or the next...
You get the idea.

Taildragger that sucks about closing the beaches. I've said to coworkers that my line between public-health and gestapo is the use of TN public lands.
The Smokies are closed but I understand that, since it's a crowded national park. We are surrounded though by state parks and state/TVA/TWRA land which is seldom used. Spent 5 hours alone in the woods this morning with the dogs and it's definitely the best way to decompress.
Would be very glum in CA if they closed the beaches.
Our Gov actually expanded liquor laws in an attempt to help businesses.. with the hopeful side effect of reducing EtOH related withdrawal seizures.

Yeah, the fact that I paid a non-trivial amount of money for a yearly, state beach, parking pass which is now worthless til "whenever" is salt in the wound.
Oh well, I should stop whining: other people are ill (some mortally), having their lungs permanently damaged, losing loved ones, scuffling to pay their bills, etc.. Being temporarily denied beach access is pretty inconsequential by comparison.
