Going forward, I will use this thread to discuss what my family and I go through as we battle against this virus. If anyone else gets a confirmed diagnosis, or wants to discuss a friend or family member’s experience, it can be done in this thread. I’d encourage the posting of daily updates.
This thread is NOT for the posting of statistics or what celebrity has announced their diagnosis.

I hope this thread has very few posts. Take that in the way it's intended in that few of us pick this thing up.

Mfitz, thanks for doing this, it's a reality check for all. Seems it's important to rest as much as you can, so if you're tired, lie down, take a snooze.

Some may not want to read about it, so it’s quarantined in this thread. As far as laying down and resting goes, hasn’t been much of an issue where there’s next to nothing to do!

Best to the Fitz's, thanks for sharing. I didn't want to seem ghoulish by asking specifics, but I think a lot of folks could have their minds put at ease with positive reports and day to day stuff. How are you guys making out with food and necessities? Home deliveries?

That’s what we’ll be doing going forwards I guess. Prior to the positive test, I have been shopping with mask and gloves. At least for the next week or two.
Before the restrictions went into place we loaded up, so we’d be ok for a few weeks even if we couldn’t shop at all.

Cool! This not only helps us known how well you folks are doing, but it's also a public service to educate the rest of us on what's going on in a more specific way.
Stay with your program and get well soon. Hope to hear that's the case in short order.
Thanks!!

I know you live in NYC area but how specifically if you even have an idea? My wife is a teacher and several members of the staff of her school have tested positive (all with similar results, some had fevers and flu like symptoms, none were hospitalized or had breathing issues). We’re assuming that was it. Though, the janitor in my office building also tested positive (he was hospitalized and had not been to work for two weeks; he cleans the building with his wife and daughter, and they had been coming without him. They tested negative), so it could have been there too. Couple that with the delayed reaction that NYC had in implementing measures against the virus, and there you have it.

Which basically means...hard to say. Did you take public transportation to work during this time, too?

No, I don’t take public transportation. Staten Islanders are mostly car reliant.

As I posted in an earlier thread, my west coast USA (Oregon) brother had it. His teenage son came home from a school concert with it and gave it to mom and dad who are both in their early 50's. They stayed indoors and it took 10! days to get the OK to be tested and get results back - all were positive. My nephew had sniffles and a cough. Both adults had coughs and high fevers but did not require hospitalization. All three have recovered but are still keeping themselves quarantined. All three were in good physical shape/health before catching it.
Best to everyone ... if you do contract it the odds are in your favor you'll be OK.

My neighbor had a confirmed case as of last Thursday. Symptoms were high fever, weakness, severe cough and some shortness of breath. He went to the hospital, but they sent him home with instructions to come back if his breathing problems got severe. Last night he was admitted with severe difficulty breathing. I haven't gotten an update since dinner time.

Mfitz, I've haven't been a particularly religious person in about 50 years, but I have been saying a lot more prayers in the last month or so. I will certainly send some your way.

My brother over on Snohomish county Wa tells me he's seeing a number of his neighbors getting it. One couple in their 50's both ending up in the hospital "in bad shape".

Great health in general with no underlying medical conditions. Our neighborhood does a lot of get-togethers, so I've gotten to know him quite well. He's always been the one I end up hanging with at the parties because we're so much alike.
