Our other two needed a companion.
Not sure what breed it is, but it's very friendly and doesn't bark much:

OK, it's April 2 now.
Capybaras, the world's largest rodent, are indigenous to South America. They're related to guinea pigs and are extremely social, usually living in groups of about 20 but sometimes congregating in crowds of as many as 100. Judging by the forehead, I'm guessing that their cognitive abilities are somewhat "limited".

Imagine being trampled if they was t'stampede.
Somehow I doubt Clint's career would've taken off quite like it did if Rowdy and Mr. Favor had a been herding those on Shetland ponies instead of cattle on horses...

I love Aussies. The red tri didn't want anything to do with that big rodent.

Question on the Aussie DOGS, are they as demanding as people say? I keep hearing that if you dont keep them busy and occupied they can get troublesome.

I've only had 1, a mini. She was a very adaptable dog. Couch potato? Sure, why not. Running agility with mommy? You betcha. She could go from 0 to 60 in two heartbeats.
We keep telling ourselves we won't torture ourselves with another dog, but *IF* we do it'll be another Aussie, mini or otherwise.

Question on the Aussie DOGS, are they as demanding as people say? I keep hearing that if you dont keep them busy and occupied they can get troublesome. We have one, a full-sized male. He is a tri-color, and looks very much like the second one in the video except that his face is all-white with a black eye patch.
He is an outstanding dog, super smart and fun to have around. They need to be worked in some fashion every day or they drive you crazy. We try to take ours on a good long hike 4-5 times a week, and maybe just around the block on every third day or if the weather is bad. He likes kids and most other dogs. He is mostly laid-back, especially after a good hike.
He is very athletic, can go all day. He's not the fastest dog I've ever seen, but, like Auf says, he can be at full speed in two steps. Very powerful hindquarters, built like a bear.
He can usually be found within 5 feet of one of us, and doesn't like it when we are in opposite ends of the house. He keeps track of us, that's his job.

When we first got our Matilda (Mattie) I would be walking through the house and she would follow. Then I started noticing some contact on the heels. I'd stop and turn around and she'd look up at me like "what, Daddy?". After a while we caught on what she was doing. She was poking alternating heels with her nose as we walked. I'm sure this is some sort of instinctive herding maneuver.

Every one I've known was an obsessive "ball dog".
I did meet a couple once that were aggressive, but the were an exception. All the others have had very even temperaments and seemed almost immune to being provoked by other dogs.

I have not owned one but like the Aussie. Another favorite is a Yellow Lab (if they just weren't so big as I like house dogs). Would love to have a pup but my wife is not in favor of another dog right now. I leave the subject be as she is "quiet" about my guitars LOL
