My bride is working on season 2 of a Scandi-Noir series called "Wisting." Season 1 is available for streaming, I understand, on Sundance Channel. It's produced by a company based in Oslo.

Sounds up my alley. I will add it to the list of things to find. On the Netflix front, I see new seasons of both Dark and Deadwind have been released too.

Showtime has a .99 cent deal so I partook. Billions is pretty good so far. In the mold of suits.

On amazon prime, we greatly enjoyed the two seasons of "Jack Ryan" and have just begun watching "Hannah", which is really good. And "Boys", about not-nice superheroes, is surprisingly better than my low expectations. But "Tales from the Loop" has to be the slowest moving show, ever, with droning music that sets my teeth on edge, which is a shame as it has an interesting premise and decent acting, but I find it unwatchable.

Not streaming, but Snowpiercer and Barkskins have been good new series worth watching.

We gave up on "Tales From the Loop". The one episode of "Barkskins" we watched looked pretty good. What service are you watching that one on? The episode I saw was broadcast.
If you liked that, you might enjoy this movie:

Tales from the Loop had a teen/tween appeal that... well... didn’t appeal to me. I bailed on the third episode.

Dying Laughing is really good. It's free on YouTube and got 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Jerry Lewis, Jamie Foxx, Garry Shandling and others discuss the craft, creative process and psychology of performing stand-up comedy before a live audience.

Exactly, and if you've ever known a degenerate alcoholic (some are not degenerates, and I'm not talking about those alcoholics), you know just how accurate his portrayal is. Had a neighbor growing up who was almost a carbon copy, his vocal patterns, his mannerisms, its absolutely perfect.

Putney Swope (1969) is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
If you like Jarmusch, Coen Brothers, Tarantino, Tim Burton, etc. then you may be in the ballpark to like this movie. Not everyone will. It's quirky and bold and very politically incorrect. It's also hilarious and a rare treasure if you can manage. The director is Robert Downey Senior.
"How many syllables, Mario?"

We watched season 1 of "Hidden" on Amazon Prime. Some of the dialog is in Welsh (with subtitles), but most is in English.
Overall impressions:
1)-Pretty dark and creepy
2)-generally well-acted
3)-pretty slow paced in most episodes, which is probably what real police work is like
Caveat: Acorn is offering season 1 of this free this month on Amazon. If you like it and want to watch season 2, you'll have to sign up for Acorn.

I noticed "Nurse Jackie" (with Edie Falco from the Sopranos) is on Netflix again. I liked it...

Radioactive is on Amazon Prime. The life of Marie Curie. Interesting subject to me but this was disappointing. Rosamund Pike does a respectable job in the lead but the story is overly romanticized. Tries to make some statements about science and atomic energy that are unnecessary for the movie. Watchable but could have been way better.

"East/West 101" in Amazon. We started watching this one a couple nights ago. On top of the police/crime aspect, it also involves minority (Muslim, Pacific Islander, Aborigine, etc.) relations amidst the Australia public, between the public and police as well as within the Sydney PD. At first, I thought it might get simplistically political and preachy, but after watching 3 episodes, we've decided that it's actually pretty good: it's more nuanced than that.
Only problem (at least for this Yank) is the dialog is pretty dense and rapidly spoken; the accents thick and the vocabulary often idiomatic. This means that even with subtitles on, I sometimes can't combine audio comprehension and reading quickly enough to catch everything that's said. A bit of a challenge, but we're going to stick with it. www.imdb.com/title/tt0907831/

Judgement in Berlin on Prime Nothing to do with Nuremberg or the Holocaust. Story is set back in the days of the Berlin wall. A man hijacks a plane to gain his freedom in West Berlin. This a great courtroom drama as moral and ethical questions cross with legality. Martin Sheen is excellent as the American judge, reluctantly called in to serve over the proceedings. Very well balanced and believable handling of a complex issue.

Hired Guns on Prime is really good. It's about the life of session musicians.

I'm rewatching Patriot on Prime. Probably one of my all time fave series. Funny, convoluted, touching, preposterous. Don't miss the best part, turn subtitles on. Brilliant role for Kurtwood Smith.

My bride is working as development executive on season 2 of a Scandi-Noir series called "Wisting."
Season 1, which has won all sorts of awards, is up on, I believe, maybe Sundance Channel or some such.
They start shooting season 2 this fall.

"Flying Down to Rio" on TCM. Dolores Del Rio night -- but also the very first movie featuring a very young Fred & Ginger. Also the movie with the girls dancing on the wings of airplanes in flight in the final production number. It's long been one of my guilty pleasures. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Down_to_Rio
