But judging how these 10 series are shooting up, I'll be even in about a year. I have a TS-10 I bought for about $100 a few years ago, and probably over paid. Now TS-10s are going for up to $650! Pedal collectors are nutty.

I have a bunch of DOD pedals I bought back in the 90's. I doubt they've appreciated any.

Original Gonkulators with the weirdly worded controls are worth money. There's others from that era that are climbing as well, although offhand I can't remember which ones.

I had an MS-10 Metal Charger that was stolen back in 2001. I'd love to get that back again. It was great, even at low gain.

I'm obsessed with Ibanez pedals, especially 10 series, so I did a little poking around about the Metal Charger. Apparently the circuit is in essence two Tubescreamers stacked together. Its got 4 of the 4558 chips or something. There's a cheap and easy mod that a lot of people do that warms them up and reduces the "fizz." I saw them for as cheap as $54! Time to hit eBay, DrKev!

Two tubescreamers? Not that simple. I just had a look at the schematics and while the clipping part of the circuit looks a little like two tube screamer clipping circuits back to back, sure, but the values are different, and the entire circuit design is totally different. Certainly, I can tell you it sounds nothing like a tube screamer in any way!
I will keep an eye out for one used though. I'll play all my old favorite Queensryche licks with again! It nailed that sound for me!

I have wondered why if there is a mod out there for a particular pedal etc and a very large group of people have installed that mod as to why manufacturers do not incorporated them into their product (and I know the typical response by them is cost saving)

Since I posted last, I bought an MS-10 Metal Charger and a DS-10 Distortion Charger on eBay. I'm digging them both, the Distortion Charger rivals the Mostortion, but I suspect its been modded. It's got a green LED, and as far as I know Ibanez didn't use green LEDs on the 10 series.

Agreed Peddler collectors are a fickle lot. TS-10s shot through the roof. A couple of popular artists are using them right now. It's a fragile pedal with a lot of plastic parts, never heard one but they are supposed to sound pretty decent. I'm not a collector, but I am kinda fickle over my pedals. But not in a Boutique way. I have searched the world for an overdrive pedal my ears would be happy with (probably have $500-700 in boutique overdrives in a drawer)... Just to settle on a TS-808 reissue (overpriced in my book, but I still bought one) and a Mini TS (almost as good/really can't tell them apart, the TS 808 is just easier to dial in) I stack both for versatility. It's just the overdrive my ears want to hear.

I have a TS-10, its noticeably different than a TS-9, and WAY different than an 808. I really like it.

A tube screamer (where it works the mids and leaves other frequencies alone) or more the overdrive? One of my other favorite OD pedals is the TS9DX half tube screamer, half overdrive... why it isn't on my pedal board I don't know..

Perhaps a bit more gain, and "smoother and creamier" for lack of a better description. Have you ever played a TS-7 with the hot mode switch on? It's almost halfway between a stock TS-9 and a TS-7 in hot mode. Of course if you've never heard a TS-7 then this description is of absolutely no help, lol I've been curious about the TS9DX, it sounds really versatile with its 4 modes.

I haven't heard a TS-7 either. It's that TS soft clipping of the mid frequencies that my ears covet. I swear I have a small fortune in Boutique pedals. Being 53 it's not like I didn't know about tube screamers. I have Boutique versions but it's something in the Ibanez soft clip that I grove on.
TS9DX: Super underated pedal. Built like a tank. It's decieving. It's a cross between an overdrive and a tube screamer. Four modes TS9, +, Hot & Turbo:
TS9 mode, its a straight up TS9, to be used as all tube screamers should be used. The + mode i.e. Is a step down from a TS9, a less clipping version with more bottom end almost like an overdrive pedal but not quite, That is my favorite mode. Hot mode, is step down from the "+ mode" in clipping, with even more bottom end some top end EQ. The Turbo Mode is the lease amout of clipping, with the broadest eq band, pretty much a straight up mild to medium overdrive. That mode is great for a just a mild soft clipping boost.
Very vesitle pedal... (it's a keeper)
