I had an opportunity presented that I didn't pass up.
I just snagged a 1976 Marshall 1987.
It's in pretty nice shape and has already had a recap - but the original Dalys were sent with the amp. The amp was even converted from 6550s to EL34s, and that conversion was accomplished with NOS Piher resistors - so the amp retains some originality within.
It is a LOUD beast from 1 on the volume controls. It just saturates as it is cranked.

Nice! Does it make you wanna play Frampton's 'I Give You Money'?

I need to break out the Dr. Z Airbrake.
In other news, my neighborhood knows I have this amp.

I've considered a Z Brake for my Maz 18 but so far have resisted.

Nice amp Leftee. Didn't Pat Travers used to play one of those?
I used to play (borrowed) Marshall 100w full stacks back in the late '70's, but even in quite large venues I rarely got above "2" on the master volume, and I never, ever went above "3".

A 100w full stack! LOL
These things are all dinosaurs. But oh!... what splendid dinosaurs they are.
What's amazing about the design is how touch-sensitive they are when cranked.

That's probably why I'm pretty much deaf in one ear

Has it had the bias supply mod, ie feed moved to the hot side of the standby switch?

I love it when a plan comes together. Last year I landed a Marshall 1960A for a decent price. They're kinda like upright pianos. Nobody wants them. It was 2007 and a little banged up. It also had a hole in the grille cloth. Maybe a couple years ago I found a roll of salt and pepper cloth, on Reverb, and snagged it cheap. Over the last couple days this came together.
That grille cloth is tough to work with. I have a couple loose areas on the right side, as you can see. But it came out OK-enough. I'm not taking this cab apart, again, to fix it.
The cab came with Celestion Relic 30s, which were a pretty miserable attempt by GC to enter into the speaker market. I think they sold for $50ea new. Now the cab sports Eminence GBs - my favorite "Green Back" type speaker.
I'm about to fire it up.

Thanks!
I tore it down a couple weeks ago and sprayed the body with clear gloss lacquer. It made it pop a little more.

I took a little tech time with this today. It had a couple issues that were easily addressed. First was the chassis hum. It was there even in standby - and not through the speakers. The OPT was loose on one side and the mounting tabs had bent a bit. I straitened the tabs and properly tightened it down. The other issue was what sounded like bad ground. This amp doesn't have a detachable power cord and still had its original 3 prong plug/cord. With the chassis out I ohmed out between the ground point on the chassis and the ground prong. At best - 20 ohms, and it would higher if I moved the cable. So a new power lead is now installed. The amp is now as quiet as it should be, at idle. Absolutely no chassis hum, too. I broke out my Dr. Z Air Brake so I could crank this rig in the house - dime the amp. Oh yeah!

There’s all sorts of modeling, amps, pedals etc. to get this tone.
And then there’s this. 🇬🇧
