I’m hosting our fifth annual DC jam in Takoma, DC, on Sunday, March 8. Setup begins 10:30 AM, music goes nonstop from noon to 6 pm. We operate Clamfest-style, with voting on the song list and advance signups for parts. Contact me if you’re interested!

Suggestions are all in (over 100!) List of Love LoL is made and will be released for voting soon. It contains links to the YouTube version we will be doing.
Voting is done by google docs that auto populates a google sheet. From there we pick the top 45 voted songs and they will be the final songs. We then open up the various slots (guitar, bass, drum, vocals, other) 5 at a time. So you can sing and play on 5 songs. You can pick 5 of each slot if you want to be in the running for jam Ho'
We will do a round every few days to allow people to get in on the fun. Then we will eventually open up the sheet with no limits to fill up the songs. This will give everyone approximately 1 month to woodshed.
Email Tiller2 or me for more info. I will post the LoL here as well as in email.

I highly recommend participating in this Jam; I give it a five star rating! I've been involved since the beginning. The organizational system is top notch, and the people involved are the best. If you like to jam, this is definitely the place to be.
Full Disclosure: I am a drummer, and I did wipe my feet before posting.

I will be in TX the first two weeks of March...oy. Where, I’ll be in Texas around that time, a friend and I are taking a road trip out to New Mexico but really just meandering around for two or three weeks.

How important do you think it is to have a (small) keg of beer at the jam, which runs noon to 6 on a Sunday? Most years I've had one, but last year the distributor screwed up and we didn't--and people didn't seem to care. We have great sandwiches and can go BYOB.
Another food question: Clamfest used to have some kind of crumble cake, as a signature treat. I'd like to have something of that order: maybe a large carrot cake? Ideas and/or preferences?

Inching closer to committing to come down. Currently in negotiations with the Spousal Unit about her joining me for this one.

Sounds good my friend. The "List of Love" is out to vote on, so have at it.
One question though; If your "spousal unit" is coming, are you going to make her help you carry your gear? OR Do you still need us "Clamfest Roadies" to help out?

If Joe brings the wife asking her to lug stuff may be the deal breaker

This is good news, K9. I'm pretty sure there'll be a dinner on Saturday night for out-of-towners including spousal units.

The good news, for everyone's backs at least, is that the newest addition to the Leslie family, aka the "Mini-Fridge" is pretty easy to move around. Griz, don't forget to let me know about where you all are thinking of staying.

attention all: The LoL voting is now over and we are tallying up to get to the magic number of songs which is 44 I do not know the mystical reasons for this number but Andrew the Jam master General of the March on DC says 44 is the number for reasons similar to that below
The first round will come out next week

Not a problem K-9; still a work in progress.

It's obvious: 44 is the atomic number of ruthenium, a minor component of platinum, and the DC jam features songs that went platinum, or should have done.

Reviving this thread to say... I had a fun time yesterday! I played some things I practiced and jumped in on some things I kindof knew when asked (I DID get totally lost on "Walk Away Renee", sorry!!). And entertained the crowd by being my usual energetic self. The new "venue" was actually pretty good, all things considered! Kudos to Griz and Evan and Steve and Steve the drummer and Gman and Joanne on vocals and anyone I missed! Oh, and Josh for the bass rig! Gonna have to think about gettin' me a MarkBass cab! More GAS! Yay!

Yes my friend, yesterday's Jam was a fantastic time. I love playing at events like this. I always use the adage "I get to see some old friends and to make some new ones". There was a lot of talent there yesterday, of all sorts. Great Job Everyone! Special thanks to "Tiller2" for hosting the event.
To quote our resident MT-2 contributor, mechanical genius, philosopher, and premier musician (Peegoo): "It's a Jam, NOT an audition"
You jumped in when we needed you my friend, my hat is off to you. By the way, where do you get your "Energy" from!
See you at the next one.
