If I try to edit my one of my posts, an "alert" box flashes on the screen momentarily, telling me my "time is up" and then disappearing. When the alert goes away, so does the "edit" button in my post. I've tried logging off of the site and then logging back in and also tried rebooting my machine (desktop) to no avail.
Is this happening to anyone else?

New feature due to recent events. You only have 90 minutes to edit or delete your post.

If edits after the 90 minute window are needed, you can contact a Moderator or myself. Please copy and paste a link to the thread you are referring to if making that request so we can easily find it.
It's not something I had even thought of doing until the recent events referred to above, but it was made clear that it needs to be limited to maintain site integrity.
Sorry about that.

Which is a good example of how I am willing to listen to ideas. That time limit, as well as the "to the top" button, collapsible quotes, the Quick Quote feature, etc. were all made a part of the site based on the suggestions of our members.

No problem, Mike. Another "work-around" if the "past the deadline" edit involves just adding a little information to your post is to quote yourself, delete everything but the specific part of the quote to which you wish to add, add the additional info and then post that. That's what I did in the "Enemy Below" thread in Moe's, which is the one in which I first encountered the issue. It's a little extra work, but no biggie and I understand why you altered the procedure.
I just thought it was a glitch until it was explained to me above. I had missed the thread linked by Peegoo.

I reviewed your posts and that is a good way of adding something you left out, thought of later, etc.
We'll keep requests to the Mods for edits limited to removing stuff; if you are just supplementing, quote yourself and then say what you need to add. Perfect.

"Which is a good example of how I am willing to listen to ideas."
