What you're seeing in that picture is just a piece of the neck under the fingerboard. It looks to be made similar to a 335 where you can see a bit of the neck barrel sticking up there, as opposed to an LP where the FB just lies on the carved top. You can get a better idea of what is going on if you look at the treble side in another picture. Sometimes it is a continual piece with the neck barrel and tenon, sometimes it is an extra piece glued on, like with an archtop. It really doesn't matter which they did. Both are considered acceptable practice.
Why the lines looks so pronounced, it is hard to say from the picture. You can also see a bit of a gap in the binding up there, too. It could be grain fill for the mahogany on the neck put on sloppily, it could be a light tint used on the top (yes it is a "natural" top, but still may have a very light tint to keep it even under the gloss), who knows. It isn't structural, though. If that neck was coming off, you'd see MUCH bigger signs than small lines, especially when such a thick/hard finish is involved.

Still looks like a sloppy shim to me, regardless, no reason for that mess IMO. Out of 55 guitar I have zero with that. Far from industry standard.

The waiting hasn’t been difficult. I keep myself so busy with work and guitar projects that the time flies by.

I guess the photographed one is a sample, then?

In the cosmic scheme of things, Thursday already came and went, along with the Friday honeymoon and subsequent sale on Reverb. Its a universe designed by M.C. Escher.

Not sure of the reference, funky. Can you clarify? But do it telepathically. I have an unlimited paranormal data plan.

"That part is obvious, but is the cat inside the shipping box still alive?"
Back in the 80s I was stationed at Helenikon in Greece.
One of my pals who transferred in, and this is a true story: the day the movers showed up to pack and truck their household goods from the U.S, they were in and out of the house with the door open; their cat disappeared in the process.
The family searched and no dice. Two months later they received their stuff in Greece. When the couch was removed from the crate and brought in, they heard meowing from inside the couch. YES it was the cat. A whole lot skinnier but miraculously still alive. No, the movers were not named Schroedinger's Moving and Storage!
