The owner called me. He wanted to follow up on my complaints.
First - according to him the pots/guitar are wired correctly. I’m the first ever to complain. I can believe that second part. English is not his first language so I’m not sure I was able to explain the problem to him.
Second - they “dressed the frets” as they always do. I told him there were significant flat spots and file marks. It was the *worst* fret work I’d ever seen on a new guitar (did not tell him that). Back in the day Agiles had beautiful frets. I told him I’d have rather received the guitar without that fret work done to it.
I suspect he’s going to try to stick me with return shipping.
I do *not* recommend these guitars at all.
I hope I’m just being overly negative and I get the full refund. But I suspect he’s going to try to stick me with return shipping.
The guitar is dropped off and making its way back.

I was waiting for your review before deciding to pull the trigger on the cherry SHB. I'll pass.
The search continues.

Other than the frets and wiring how did it sound?
Did the pickups sound decent?

No real surprise, sadly so. Best of luck on the return.

The pickups sounded fine.
Honestly, had they not messed up the frets in the name of leveling and dressing the guitar would have been better. That’s the sad part. They wrecked it with their fret work - on this side of the pond.
Their claims of professional setup are a sham.

They received my return on Weds. Still no refund. I asked them about it, last night, and they said they will inspect the guitar when they open next week.

they said they will inspect the guitar when they open next week. So with the holiday on Monday, most likely it will be Tuesday or even Wednesday. I now know of 3 bought with good results and just yours with bad results. Interesting, maybe model related!

I think the return will be telling. If they admit the fretwork is bad and give me a full refund including the return shipping, I’d soften up my review. From the phone conversation with him, it didn’t sound like it was going to go that way. He attitude was that I’m the only one to complain, so fault must reside with me.
Honestly, if they admitted that the fretwork was poor and offered me a replacement done right, I’d be happy.
At the price-point I’d have been happy with the guitar if nothing had been done to the frets. I’d rewire the pots and do a level/crown/polish correctly. It really was a nice guitar for under 5 bills.

“ He attitude was that I’m the only one to complain, so fault must reside with me. ”
I would be willing to bet that is the line he has used more than once to keep from having to pay full refund. Hey wouldn't that be something if they on had one of each model and just kept cycling it through making a little off each person . Ha ha. That of course was in jest as there might be that one person dumb enough to just keep it 😂😂😂😂😂

Back at post #46 I posted a closeup of their tuners which reflected someone shooting a cellphone pic in what looks like an alleyway with a bunch of cases and a waiting car.
I had an uneasy feeling...

I guess I missed that one Auf Kiltre so I revisited it just now. That is concerning! That alone would keep me from ordering from them. Good catch!

I hope the guy does the right thing and refunds your money. Making excuses for product that does not measure up to advertising claims is shyster behavior.

Sort of like the guy in the trench coat trying to sell Bert and Ernie a watch on Sesame Street: [noo yawk accent] "Hey...you. C'mere."

This Grote is on Amazon for $199. I'd buy it if it said Groot. I'd want to make sure the poor lil guy died for a worthy cause.

Too close to ‘Scrote’! Noun. scrote (vulgar, slang, chiefly Britain) A worthless obnoxious person; a gobxxxxe or toerag. (slang, Britain) The scrotum.

Glad to hear that it’s a universal term.

Scrote was a common military slang.

Honestly - the guitar I received would have been fine if they hadn't boogered up the frets before shipping it.
That would also increase their margin.

Glad to hear that it’s a universal term. Makes me wonder where my dad got the term from, now. He was never a military man, nor has he ever traveled across the pond. He just has a good ear for strange vulgar sayings, I guess. There are a few in his lexicon that I still can't trace back anywhere and seem unique to him.

Still no refund. They've had the guitar back for a few days now. I opened up a case with Reverb.
I *seriously* don't recommend this seller.

That's a bummer Leftee. Curious, do you think the frets had enough on them to level/recrown, or did they mutilate them with expertise?

Yes, they could have been salvaged. But they wouldn’t have the meat left that they should have, for a new guitar.
It was one month ago when I ordered this guitar.
