Firstly I would like to thank/blame Chimpo, LTB, Charente, Auf Kiltre and Stratmanx.
I am really happy with my new Casino. When checking online for a new right angled lead for it, I came across a shop selling a stash of new Limited Edition Epiphone ES 335 Pros, for £150 less than I paid for the Casino.
After thinking about it for a few minutes I decided that I really deserved another guitar and ordered one. Just as well, as they were none left as of Wednesday morning.
After a few hours I can report that the new guitar is really quite impressive. The usual humbuckers are serviceable enough and the coil-tapping option makes the instrument pretty versatile.
The slim neck is perfect for me. I appreciate that some of the electrical components are a result of the guitar being built to a certain price point and as a result may require replacement in future. Overall, I’m a very happy chap.
Once Barry has spruced himself up I’ll post a pic.

Nice! I have the cherry red one but would have liked to score the carmel burst one I only saw at Zzounds. So far the only mods I've done is to install an Earvana nut. I do have an intermittent issue with the switch where the bridge pickup doesn't turn on.
I think if one find the neck to their liking then this one is a no-brainer as far as 335 substitutes go. Congrats. Love the Casino too.

Nice one LT.
I think the Pros look much nicer than the Dots.
Payday today, and I've saved so much money this month by not having to travel to work .........hmmm.

Cheers. I wish you good luck should you decide to splurge. I carried out a search earlier today for similar guitars and struck out. It made me feel a little bit smug and justified in my decision to go for it when I did.
Mine came from GuitarGuitar in Glasgow, a local shop I used a lot in the days when musical instrument shops were open. You’ll know they’re part of a national chain. They had 10+ instruments originally. If you are interested I’m sure that there will be a return or two.
I now feel bad about the smugness if that’s any consolation.

It's ok LT, I *really* don't need any more guitars.
That said I've spotted an absolutely beautiful Iced Tea Custon Shop model on eBay for £475, and a natural currently going for £300.
Must resist ;-)

All kidding aside. That is seriously nice. 😊 Kidding is needed. Especially at the moment. One unexpected bonus of buying two guitars close together is that I’ve been enthusiastic about both and with constant swapping of guitars and then swapping amps I am really appreciating the Casino’s qualities tonally. It really is a unique sound. Kid on!

It really is a unique sound. I am doing the same. The tonal qualities of the Coupe and Dot are different from each other but they are both different from the solid bodies I normally play. It's a refreshing change. I purchased them within a couple of weeks of each other and they have both equally dominated. I have only played a solid body HB for about half an hour for tonal comparison.

Not saying they are the very best but they are the best I have heard in an Epi. I am sure the P90's on the Casino do sound nice even though I have never owned one. How are they for hum or buzz when playing?

LTB, I feel good about buying the 335.
To answer your question, the P90s seem to be less noisy than the single coils in my Tele and Strat. Having said that, I don’t think those guitars hum or buzz much at all and certainly never enough to be a distraction.

“That's a plus! When playing do the feel substantually different pretty similar in terms of feel, playability etc?”
LTB
On the question of feel, the two are very different. Due to the Casino’s tailpiece, it has a very different feel. It’s looser, more relaxed. It’s hollow body is lighter and somehow sounds and feels airier.
The 335 feels more like a normal solid bodied electric but when amplified it’s unmistakably ‘semi-hollow’ sounding. This sound seems to be emphasised when using the coil tapping feature.
The guitars came from different retailers. The Casino had obviously been tweaked by the shop before shipping. Intonation was spot on and the only fault seems to be with the nut on the B string. The nut’s been cut a wee bit too deep and this will be addressed in future by a professional. The 335 needed a few minutes work by me on intonation, but action wise it’s perfectly acceptable.
There’s easier access to the dusty bit of the fretboard on the 335.
In short, they are very different beasts in terms of feel and sound despite the similar looks.

I like my Casino; its probably the lightest guitar I own. It also nails the late era Beatles sounds. I still fancy a 335 Pro though

I've shied away from P90's because they were virtually unusable in my last environment, which had some wicked electrical dynamic. The ones I use are Kent Armstrong Stealth noiseless ones.
I didn't even consider a Casino.
Until now. Thanks, thanks a lot.

And.... another "unused Xmas present" has just been listed for £265. I'm having it, if the price stays where it is
