Just recently, I added the ability to name your own rank at 4,000. I have now changed it to 3,000. Those achieving that level can contact me and I’ll give them whatever rank they want (within reason).
Those who have been kind enough to send me a financial contribution are Supporting Members, they get 5 black stars. If a Supporting Member thinks of a custom tag they’d rather have than Supporting Member, I’ll now offer them that option as well.
A handful of folks have “earned” custom titles already, for various reasons.
None of these titles get anyone any extra privileges or anything, it’s just part of the ProBoards software and I thought it was nice.
I’ve gotten a couple questions in the last week or so about it, so I figured I would remind everyone how it works.

Ranks, or rankings by definition separate and indicate greater, or lessor, superior vs inferior. I would like to think we are all equal, or is that a false ideology? Of course, all in all it really doesn't matter.
The stars can’t be changed to a different icon, and the ranks can only be eliminated totally (no name or stars) .
I doubt anyone really cares enough about them, so I’ll just leave what we have.
Just as an update, I figured out that you CAN make it a different icon (clearly), and those who reach 3,000 posts or are a Supporting Member can, along with their custom rank name, select a custom icon to replace their stars.
Doing the custom icons takes some time and requires a picture about 15pt x 15pt, which you can provide, or I can locate (NSR asked for red white and blue, I found they all have to be the same, so I found a flag print star).
Additionally, although the whole thing is kind of silly to begin with, I have the ability to add more levels at higher post counts should we need to do so in the future. One day, if this site has lasted a long time, 3,000 posts won't be so much of an accomplishment.
