When’s the waxing?
Congrats on the grooming. We’re a few weeks away from that sort of activity in Scotland.
As I can’t really go anywhere it doesn’t bother me too much at the moment.

I've been getting a buzz cut for many years now. With nowhere to get a haircut these days, the sparse, thinning hair on top of my head was looking pretty silly standing straight up like a balding troll doll. I tried finding a place locally to buy hair clippers, but no luck. To my surprise, a co-worker had clippers in his truck and gave me a buzz cut at my house after work last week. Aaaahhhh, that feels (and looks) better!

I did my own buzz yesterday, it’s an improvement but not as good as when they do the same cut at the barber’s. But at least my dog recognizes me again.

My Mom gave me a hair cut yesterday when I stopped by to drop off a book for my Dad. We've been keeping our distance, but she pushed hard to give me a cut. I really needed one, so I gave in. I held a mask over my nose and mouth the whole time.
Sure is nice to be cleaned up. Mom had her own business, and is a pro. She still gives a first class hair cut. She's 70. She still has her professional chair in her garage.

I've been looking at this thing lately, and it's been glaring back at me. It's probably 25 years old. I took it apart yesterday...cleaned it up, sharpened the blades, oiled it, and I'm now awaiting the inevitable grudge match that will occur within the next day or three.

buzz since it wasn't worth it to go to the barber anymore and I was gifted a nice Wahl clipper. that's one aspect of my life that hasn't changed.

They're not open here yet, but I have just been buzzing mine off myself. I'm 80% bald, so I've been paying $15 for a stylist to spend 3 minutes buzzing it off. They do clean up around the edges and it does look better when they do it. With the economy where it is, I'll go back to them when I feel like it's safe to do so. I'm moderately high risk so I'm not going to rush out and resume normal activity the second they open things up.

Our barbershops should open in Friday or Saturday. I have not a haircut since January. My stubble is all that keeps my face from looking totally androgynous.

My wife is digging the longer hair. Although I look like Bernie Sanders on a bad hair day, it's still easier to keep than it was the last time I had hair this long.
Probably because there's alot less of it...

In Vietnam, when my hair got too long the steel pot I had to wear would become painful when it’s weight would constantly pull my hair. I was headed back to the boonies and wanted to cut off the excess hair so grabbed a dull mechanical clipper to get the job done. Well...it became kind of clip clip clip rip, clip clip clip rip, with those very rusty and dull hair clippers so I took a scissors and just butchered the hair off my head. Sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do.

My barbershop is open, but I haven't made an appointment. Local cases have been still rising, and I don't feel like being the canary in that particular coal mine. Not sure what I'll besides being scrubby.

Since I'm 3-score and 10 and then some, and since I've had a heart attack and several stent procedures, and since I once had stage 4 lymphoma that I don't have any more thanks to 6 months of chemo and 2 years of bi-monthly Rituxan infusion, I might possibly be in the high-risk group for going out and about. So, this morning, I finally talked my wife into cutting my hair. She did a good job. Any imperfections will grow out in a couple of weeks. And hey, for the most part, I am staying home. It was the first haircut I have had since January. I even shaved off my long sideburns. I think I should look pretty good on Zoom tomorrow morning at 11.

One personal outcome of the pandemic... I will never pay for a haircut again. Well, I don't think I would completely rule out having a professional doing it but the self-inflicted haircuts have been passable. Reminds me of my college and musician days days. I had one at the end of the spring semester so I could return to my summer job. The rest of the time I trimmed it only if it looked too strange. I called my 'do the Euro. During my musician days 1972-1976 I got one professional styling and two haircuts. Most of the time I looked like a skinny teenaged British war bride. The haircuts were because I got tar in my hair from repairing a fuel line while in a parking lot and #2 because I was enlisting in the army and wanted to not look like a hippie. I'm mostly satisfied with my self-inflicted buzzcut.

I've been cutting my own hair with a Wahl and a good pair of scissors (and a good pair of "thinning" scissors) for years. I've been to an actual barber maybe 3-4 times in the past 10 (or more?) years.
I got tired of having to come home and clean up their cut afterwards (okay, I'm a pathetic perfectionist - but was also an art major in college, so I'm not afraid of working on things like hair).
Have no idea how much money I've saved over all those years. I've gone through two Wahl's (maybe $30 each?) and the last one has lasted at least 10-12 years...

My wife has always wanted me to have a ponytail. She may get her wish. No haircuts for me since Feb. My wife has been digging the longer-ish hair (usually a #3 buzzer on the sides and not much more on top). I've been threatening to go ponytail so she said, maybe its time for a trim. I went at noon today. My barber saw me and commented, "Ready for a haircut, ya hippie?" I said, "Why thank you. Nobody's called me that for decades!"

I've been sporting a ponytail for lots of years. When it gets too long I just grab it, pull it over my shoulder and snip with a scissor. Takes longer to find the scissor, than cutting my hair.
Been thinking about going back to a buzz cut, but the grandkids are 100% against it.
