Ray was a Rock Original, nobody else sounded like him. Lots of cool music. RIP Mr. M.

Actually, he'd be 81 this year.
I always thought he and Boz Scaggs could've been long-lost brothers.

Well...regardless of this rerun bad news...he was a great and talented player with a very unique sound. Really helped make the Doors the one-of-a-kind band that they were. There's a great video on YT about how they wrote "Riders on the Storm" that is a bunch of fun to watch. He's alive during this video...

I always liked the Doors. So very different and he was a large part of they difference. I saw them on their last tour before Jim's girl killed him. I was really surprised at how very good they sounded. Netflix used to have a special if them on Canadian tv right after the 1st album was released but before they were well known. Pretty darn good there too.

That first Doors album still sounds great. I listened to it on the drive home from work today.

Who needs a bass player in a band anyway?
They'll just drink all your beer and hit on your girlfriend.

That first Doors album still sounds great. I listened to it on the drive home from work today. Yeah...for whatever reason, I've been listening to them quite a bit lately. They really sound good. And Densmore is a heck of a drummer. Never thought about that before. But in the listening I've been doing lately, I've really concentrated on his playing and it is very varied, versatile and skilled.

The Doors sold a crapload more records after the Lizard King took a dirt nap then when he was awake ... they say you can't take it with ya... But... You can generate some income for your estate ...

Quick "claim to fame"... Jerry Cheff used my bass on a couple songs he played on up here about twenty-five years ago.

Wow, what a loss. He will be missed. I'm shocked that the media has not reported this. None of the Los Angeles stations have covered it. Rest in peace Ray.

I'm shocked that the media has not reported this. Check all the previous postings here. This is old news by a good number of years. Though your overall reaction and impression are certainly correct.
