I got one carry out from this cool little café near me today. Man was it ever good. The guy that made it is a sandwich genius.

A couple days ago I made a blt with toasted english muffin bread, campari tomatoes, some mixed green kale salad mix and avocado. Well, and of course bacon. The avocado real tied the whole sandwich together.

The avocado real tied the whole sandwich together. A rug would do the same thing apparently. Or does that only apply to rooms.

I like mine on whole wheat toast, mayo, bacon and this time of year, "tasty lee" brand tomato's. Almost as good as home grown. None of that avocado crap for me. I don't like guacamole either.

None of that avocado crap for me. I don't like guacamole either. I can dig it, I like a regular BLT too. I seem to recall someone on the FDP mentioning avocado on a BLT before and was a little doubtful. I had a ripe avocado (I love the stuff, guac too) and tried it. Both my wife and I agreed it was good.

Brings back memories, that was something we really only ate when we went to my grandparents’ house upstate. I don’t know why, but we never had them at home. Then we’d go up there for 2 weeks and probably have them 5-6 times in 2 weeks. I don’t know why, but I’m guessing my grandparents probably liked them a lot and that’s why we had them.
As a kid I didn’t like tomatoes, so it used to be just a BL for me, and no mayo. Always on toast. Toasting the bread was always my job.
I never tried it with guacamole, but if I’m being honest, guacamole goes well with most things. Definitely with tomatoes, and lettuce, and I’ve had it on a bacon cheeseburger, so I think a BLT with guac sounds perfect.

---"The guy that made it is a sandwich genius.--"
There used to exist a local diner called Vandyland where an elderly Black gentleman made simply the best I've ever had. I can't explain why as he used plain old white bread toasted with a swab of mayo, a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and two slices bacon, all very ordinary grocery store variety. But everyone who had one of his said the same thing, "damn, that is just right". It was exactly what I want when I want a BLT. I can duplicate the process and get a consistently good sandwich, but his were better. So I recognize "sandwich genius" as legit.

The very best BLT is made at the Blue Heaven restaurant in Key West. It's a variation on eggs Benedict and the "L" is for LOBSTER! I like your regular BLT too, white toast, bacon, lettuce and tomato w/mayo. I prefer avocado mayo and romaine lettuce. farefromafar.com/blue-heaven-key-west/

It is amazing to me the concoctions people try to pass off as a BLT! BLT = Bacon - Lettuce - Tomato and Sandwich = 2 pieces of bread. It's not difficult!

I'm ecumenical about BLTs. Just the basics is fine, but adding avocado and Swiss cheese is good too.

I don't eat bacon so mine would be a LT using home made bread and soon to be home grown tomatoes.

Well if we’re removing the bacon, what’s the point??
Favorite non-bacon, non-meat sandwich is tomato and mozzarella with balsamic glaze.

Ive been a BLT rebel from way back. I always ate BLTO (white onions) and called it a BLT. Lots, I mean LOTS of mayo (what some might call 'the devil's puss'). Can't really handle raw onions anymore.

Queenie and I make them fairly regularly.
Even as recently as night before last.
I tend to make them with Mayo and a little honey mustard dressing in there ... We like it😜

I used to be big on white/yellow onions as well but now find them over-powering. Try switching to red (sweet) onions, which is what I've done. They are milder on your stomach but still have that delicious, "oniony" taste. I didn't used to like 'em but do now. Funny how a person's taste can change as they get older than spit.
