Hi folks, first post here. To those familiar with the PRS wide thin and wide fat shapes, what would you you compare them to? I'm thinking about one of their semi hollow bodies and don't think I would be happy with what they call wide thin. I have large hands and prefer fairly chunky necks and this would be mail order so no chance to try it out first.

The PRS wide/fat neck is similar to a Gibson '57 - '58 "fat" neck; pretty chunky, but not overly so. The feel is different from a Gibson, however, because the PRS tapers in a different way from the Gibson. Over the length of the neck, the Gibson's change is greatest in thickness through the neck (front to back), and the taper across the neck (width of fretboard) is less pronounced.
The PRS is opposite. Through the thickness of the neck, it is fairly constant from the nut to the heel, and the greatest change is in neck width along the length.
I have both brands with fat necks, and one is not necessarily better than the other. They're just different, and I like playing them both.
I have no thin-neck PRS's, so I can't really comment on them. I've played a few, but not enough to make a reliable comparison to anything else widely available.
Welcome to the forum!

I owned a PRS McCarty Spruce top hollow body with a wide fat carve that was easy enough to play and I don't have large hands. Now have a SE 22 Custom Semi-Hollow with a wide thin neck and PRS SE One Korina with a wide fat neck. I can definitely feel the difference between them.
Also have a 2016 Traditional Les Paul with a fat neck. What Peegoo said about the difference between the PRS and LP is spot on.
And, welcome.

I liked it enough to trade a 5120 SC Gretsch guitar and cash to own the SE.
It's one of the better buys because ease of playing and having a whammy bar for subtle bends is real nice. The pick ups with the push/pull coil taps feature is something I like using for clean tones.
Overall? Yeah its one of my faves!
