In the full band, two guitars, bass, drummer, two girl singers, I stack my two Fender Sidekick horn loaded cabs (JBL E-140's) and power them with a built-like-a-tank GK 800 RB Switched to Fender Rumble 800 about 3 or 4 weeks ago due to intermittent issues with the Markbass. Haven't play out at this time.

I did pick up the Forte I was talking about buying , and sent my Streamliner off to Andy Field for service . It was working fine but I decided to invest in the amp , I plan to keep it . Amp is back , and like new . The Forte is quite a different amp , and I like having both approaches . The Liner has that dark , warm , tubey thing , the Forte is simple clean , transparent , power . We've been back gigging for the last several months , there's only six cases of covid in the province , all involved outside travel . You are required to isolate for two weeks if you travel outside , all of the recent cases have been discovered under quarantine . That's what's saved us here . Limited capacity in the bars , but the gigs are on . Thinking of picking up a little Phil Jones cab this week . The tiny C2 . For home practice , but I could drag it out for small rooms . For such a tiny little thing the specs are impressive .

I primarily used an Eden E300T tube head with an Avatar B410 for several years, but made a change to reduce weight a couple of years ago. I now use a Little Mark III through one or two GK CX210s, which is about 50 lbs lighter than the old rig. I still think the Eden sounds better than the Little Mark, but one guy in the old band preferred the Little Mark and the rest didn't seem to notice the difference.

Eden WT 550 into a 115 Fender cab or a 410 neo lightweight. GK 200 MB when possible, as the Eden is getting a little funky sometimes. A 1000w Class D poweramp with an Eden preamp if needs be.

Acoustic Image Ten2. 800 watts RMS, two 10"s and a mid/tweeter. Around 30 lbs. Love the down firing 10" for filling out the sound.
This is the exact opposite of my mid 1970's rig--150 to 300 watts, two 2 x 15 Bassman cabinets loaded with JBL D140s. Sounded great FOH, but in the rear was inchoate rumbling with some bark from the D and G strings. That was 85 lbs each cabinet plus the weight of the head(s).

Here's the full Bergantino rig , an HDN 112 and 210 with the Forte amp . I find for a lot of gigs a single cab is all I need , but it is a richer sound with both . The cabs are lightweight so it's a joy to haul this rig around . A great sounding rig !

ere's the full Bergantino rig , an HDN 112 and 210 with the Forte amp Nice cab and amp. At home I like pairing one of my 112's with my 115 for nicer low end but playing out I will most likely use both 112 cabs as they are NEO's and the 115 has one heck of a boat anchor speaker in it.

These two were designed to work together from the start , and are said to be richer that two 112 or 210 cabs . Truth is I usually just need one cab for most gigs but sometimes it's nice to bring both . They're not heavy . The Forte is a simplified little power brick . Just an input level and volume knob so if you're into distortion you will need a preamp or pedal . But it's the perfect platform if you want to do that , I'm happy with its clean hifi output . If I ever needed to crank up some distortion I have another amp with three gain stages , I tend to run that fairly clean too , just slightly warm it up .

This will do warm and can be dialed in for some pretty chunky distortion if you like . It has a three tube preamp and three levels of gain . I just tend to slightly warm it up with the tube preamp . I read that the guy that designed (the legendary Andy Field) it was still servicing them , so I sent it off . It's like a brand new amp . Genz Benz were pioneers in class D technology , and their designs still hold up today .

It has a three tube preamp and three levels of gain Each 12AX7 has 2 sections so it is actually 6 levels of gain

This little Phil Jones C2 cab finally came in , it will be my primary practise rig , seemed to run well with this little GK MB200 . Surprisingly deep and rich for such a tiny little thing . Still just getting a feel for the cab , I'll be switching basses and spinning knobs ...

The C2 will fart out if you crank it , so it's strictly a quiet practice rig , and not suitable for anything close to snare drum levels . I'm ok with that as I just plan to use it at low volume ...

morrow, I love the tolex color. Would love to have my cabs that color. Maybe when I am much better and get into the mood ( if that’s possible) 😉

I treated myself to a new very lightweight rig a couple years ago. Mesa D800+ and a Mesa Subway 2x15. What a dream rig. The 215 weighs only 60 lbs, the same as the lighter of my 2 (excellent) Eden cabs. And it stands upright in back of my 4Runner.

Acoustic Image Ten2. 800 watts through two tens and a tweeter. Weighs around 30 lbs total. Doubles as my acoustic bass/guitar/mandolin/banjo and "big" electric guitar amp.

After reading through this thread again, it’s amazing all the great options we have now, the guitars, bass amps and the various speaker configurations available for them.
Dad got me the Fender Bassman 50 for my 16th birthday in 1969. It was my first amp, in Germany I used an amp borrowed from our drummers father, who fronted a country music group, it was a Guild, I think.
Only a few companies were offering bass amps, the only one I considered a true bass amp was the Ampeg, I had very little experience back then.
My Fender Bronco purchased about 5 or 6 years ago would have gone for around $40 in 1969. A spacific Bronco was pointed out to me by the violin instructor, we know each other. It was a special bass . It was set up really well and for me it became a platform for a custom build. I get a kick out playing this Bronco. I put a bunch of higher end parts into it, tuning machines, bridge a BiSonic pickup. It’s a real sleeper.
It takes me about 5 minutes to set up and check my tuning. We were playing a sports bar, the guitar and mandolin payer were still setting up. I was at the bar with a class of water. Two young guys were sitting next to me, obviously in a band themselves. It was fun listening to these guy talking smack about my bass. They couldn’t really see the amp, they noticed the speaker cabinet was decent. They were making assumptions based on the the Bronco.
I asked them if they were musicians, yeah, and they were putting a band together. We talked for a few moments and I bought them a round. Al motioned we were ready. I asked the two guys to hang around till the end of the set and took my spot.
When the set was finished they came up to me, as I was putting the bass on it’s stand, asking questions about the Bronco, I ran them through the story and pointed out the Bisonic pick up and the other upgrades. I’m kind of passive aggressive that way “o)

There’s been some amazing changes in amp and speaker design . And I love what various companies have been doing . Aguilar , Darkglass , Mesa , Bergantino , Genzler , GRBass , GK . All are putting out exceptional product that’s smaller , lighter , and powerful . It’s a great time to be looking at amps .

Mine was a Fender DeVille 4x10. Sixty gigs in three years, and it never missed a minute. Bulletproof.
I played a MIA Deluxe Strat and a homemade Telecaster through it. Exactly the tone I wanted.

There’s these little rigs too , 5 watts , and it will power a cab to low volume , I picked up mine on kijiji as a guilty pleasure and actually use it a lot . With headphones and often with a tablet plugged into the aux in . Great silent practice rig !

I've never been one who needs my pants flapping from a couple of 15's. Had a G-K NEO 2x10 combo for about 9 years now. Works great! After my cancer surgery last year I needed something lighter. Got a G-K MB800 amp and Trace ELF 10" speaker. Glad I bought the more powerful amp, it doesn't need to be pushed like the ELF amp might have been. Put it on a chair and I can hear myself just fine!
