Does a Legacy count? I got this a couple of weeks ago after 25 years of being strat-free. This thing is awesome and is a nice break from Teles and Les Pauls. I don't play much these days but I've been playing more now than I have in the past 10 years. This is a Tribute model. I've had three Tributes and one USA G&L. Tributes are great values, especially when a MIM Player Strat is $699 these days. I got this for $499 minus the MF 15% New Year deal - not bad! The only mods are a good setup, mint pickup covers and knobs, and a Fralin baseplate under the bridge pickup. The mint bits and baseplate just came in the mail today. I was home with my sick daughter, so I made excellent use of the downtime. Beats workin'.

I've got an 83' two knob in black with rosewood neck. It's my baby. When I bought her I had no idea that Fender was a good brand. I was a kid mowing yards to save up to buy a guitar. Wanted to be Eddie Van Halen.
I went to the music store with my Mom (I'm like 12 or 13). Look around and they have all kinds and I'm really confused as what to get. The salesman tells my Mom that the Fender came with an amp (Sidekick 10) and 10 packs of bullet strings. Well I didn't have an amp figured everyone needs strings so viola I throw down my $610.00 cash. The store restrung it for me and put a strap button on the little horn.
It wasn't until I got home and started looking through some music magazines that I realized "hey Eric Clapton has a guitar that looks like mine, Jimi has one. At that point I felt better about my purchase.
I only have one right handed guitar strung lefty (all my others are lefty) and this is her. The only thing about her that isn't bone stock is the Tremolo was replaced probably in 85' with a Fender Elite's trem because I had destroyed the original with all the attempted Eddie Van Halen divebombs. The swap required no modification to the guitar it pretty much dropped right in.

Re: Gibson real-deal 1959 Les Paul:
"Imagine you find one for sale, you finally have the money for it, all of your dreams are about to come true, and you go to try it out and it plays and sounds like crap. Then you have to tell the owner how he has one of the crappy '59 Les Pauls and walk away."
It doesn't matter. Even crappy players (guitars), strictly by way of their 'vintage' pedigree, are very valuable. There are many big-money collectors that can't play guitar.

Posting just to see if I can post a picture. This is my first Strat, a 2001 MIM, bought new. Only mod I've done to it is shield the cavity. It's a great guitar but I haven't played it since switching to lefty last year. Considering converting it to left, but procrastination disease and laziness have kept that from happening so far.
