I attempted to add this video to the post above. Jingle Jangle sound of the Rickenbacker.

I’ve always wanted one, can afford one, but never pulled the trigger. I should do it just to give my sole Gretsch, a 6128T, some company. Maybe sell a spare Strat or Tele to limit the herd.

I have a 325 because of you-know who. The short scale is difficult for me to play, too cramped.
Always loved The Byrds Ric 12 string sound.

I have a 660-12 Tom Petty Model in Fire Glow. I love the small solid body and wide neck. It does the Ric 12 String thing very well and easy to play.

This is my first post here. I was on the other forum many years ago, pretty much shortly after Chris started it back in the eesite days. Maybe a couple months in, or so. That was back when you had to input your username on each post and you could use a different one each time if you wanted. When I think about it now it was kind of entertaining. CG even posted a thread asking people not to use multiple names. You can imagine what the response was. LOL I can't remember if that was 1996 or 1997. I stayed for about a dozen years or so posting off and on. I also joined a couple of spin-off forums that were essentially FD? members who wanted a smaller group when it was really taking off. I won't go into details about why I quit there because I've read the rules. I bought this 660-6 new in 2015 from Chicago Music Exchange. I didn't care for the toasters so I installed a set of RicBuckers. The strap shown is one I had custom made specifically for this guitar. In person the colors look a lot closer than they do in pics. These actually have slightly wider necks than a typical Strat or Les Paul so folks with big meat-hooks should have no issues.

You are one of the few people I’ve read of taking toasters out of a Ric.

I like them. They're not quite as ice-picky and have a little more meat in the mids. I still get plenty of jangle. Just not quite so painful.

I used to have a very nice Fireglo 360-6 that I put toasters in. I recall them being very ice picky too. I sold the 360’s with the toasters installed and the originals in the case. I have not been tempted to install toasters in my 620.

<img src=" " alt="">I have had my Ric 330 for over a week now. Tweaked the action and put new 10's on it. I don't care for the R tailpiece - PITA to restring, though it does look good. Plays good till about the 15th fret, then I find it gets harder and harder as fret spacing gets tighter and tighter. More practice in the high frets might help that. The fit and finish are excellent, no quibbles there. Well, ok, one....the shade of red on the 2005 FireGlo models, seems a bit more purplish fading to pink than I like. Much redder fading to yellow in the pics Reverb. The sound is unique, as expected. Clean or dirty settings on the amp or modeler, they all sound excellent. I like the middle switch position with both pickups on. The little mix knob does just that, fading from more neck than bridge to more bridge than neck. Overall, I think I got a good deal on an excellent guitar. Might not be #1, but it's in the top 3 or 4 in my collection.

Here's a link by a guy who plays a Rick 325v59 on "Smokestack Lightening." soundcloud.com/conanbThe guitar sounds good (not your "typical" Rick sound), and so does the performer. Makes me just about want to stick to just playing the radio....

Regarding the R tailpiece, I place a capo on the 12th fret and then change one at a time. The capo holds tension on the new string at the bridge leaving you free to wind with both hands.
