Don't be playin' no rowk and roll hippie mess on it. The roar he gets from the SG in the 2nd half of this vid is glorious. Indeed! Love this, Geno - thanks for posting.

Heh. I was thinking about Unknown Hinson in the Ric thread - there is a video of him playing Voodoo Chile on a Ric, and it undercuts everything I said about Rics and how they play, but that's okay. He's... uhhh... a rare breed in every regard, and if anyone is the exception to a rule, it is him.

Yep, plus I never play my guitars with the neck parallel to the floor . Usually 30 degrees or so. This helps balance things out and brings the first position stuff closer . Just like the video above. Yep, same here. Never did get why people want to play an instrument horizontally. Played ~30 degrees up since I started in the mid 60's. Could be because I have short arms I thought he was Eddie Munster. You mean it wasn't?

It's here! And very much as described - really in great condition for a guitar that might get beaten to death playing good ol' rock 'n' roll... there's one other blemish on the side of the body that wasn't mentioned or pictured, but it's minor and no big deal.
A few quick observations:
**The Grover locking tuners are smooth as glass, and I'm not really noticing any terrible headstock dive beyond the usual for an SG, so I think they're gonna stay for now.
**I've plugged it in briefly and everything works; I'll change strings before I make any final judgments about the tone, but it's right in the tone wheelhouse.
**I'll tweak the truss rod a hair; there's a bit more relief in the neck than there should be. That should address the minor action issue going up the neck.
**Speaking of the neck, it's one of the bulky 50's style, with hefty shoulders. I'm good with that, in part because of the stability it provides on an SG. So far everything looks rock solid.
**Came with a basically brand new Road Runner case (still had the plastic wrap on the "Road Runner" metal plate on the outside of the case). Everything's clean, no smoke smell, etc.
Win-win!
Sorry - I'm not hosting any pics online anywhere (yet ... maybe never; not sure if I have time to move a bunch of pics somewhere).
But IT IS very nice...maybe I'll just make a real quick cell phone video and post it here from YouTube...soon.
