De ville that’s a beautiful studio . Love that top. Here’s a not a very good pic of my Tribute . I honestly didn’t have very high expectations of it , but it has really impressed me. I got rid of my 10 plus lb classic . This thing is under 8lbs. imgur.com/gallery/WJNZx7pimgur.com/xFV2O36Budg, I like that a lot! That finish is very close to a reissue Junior, for 1955 that I was drooling over on Craig's a couple years ago.
What is that finish called?

I've been prowling Reverb and found a couple Studios I dig. I like the Platinum from the 2000s, and the Silver Pearl from the 2010s. Curse you guys and your Gibson threads!
Glad I could help!

Okay, so I found a photo of the guitar yours with the Honey Burst reminded me of, and I think upon scouring my recollection, I think I have seen that finish on newer models such as yours. This link is not exactly the same finish, as its outer band is darker, but I'd call it in the same family in looks. I like them both big time, and I should have one. BTW, the reissue I was talking about is what's called the Gibson 55 74. It's a 74 reissue of the 55 special. They also made at least 77 55's, and perhaps a 78 55.

I have a '74 Special 55 like that one, except a bit more tobacco burst. It's a great guitar.

And to think the fdp used to be a Fender based forum. Oh the horror ! Well now it is a “free for all” forum and I who own Fender, Gibson, Ibanez and a couple others love ❤️ it! 😁

I originally wanted one of the Silver Pearl HP studios instead of the Wine Red, but the imperfection in the wood grain (an odd set of knots behind the bridge studs) made me have to have it, plus the silver ones didn't come out for six+ months after announcement for whatever reason!

I discovered those Platinum's a few weeks ago for the first time. Pretty, cool looking. I wouldn't hesitate on one of those for the right price. When I was looking at them before, I didn't notice they don't have dots on the fretboard top. I wonder if they do on the side of the fretboard. For me it would have to have the side dots.

No case. They call them goofhiders. Just to cover any imperfections in the routing. Almost all of them unnecessary, and you find them on some humbucker routs of the same time period. They are just pinned on and almost everyone removed them because they are unnecessary and unattractive.

Man, I'm glad I already have a LP or I'd be out twelve hundred bucks for that silver pearl one.

Some of them do have the trapezoid inlays. This one in the link is actually the one I want, but for the condition and repairs, it just seems a little high still. I went to the guy's Youtube channel and he filmed a video at an airbase with the Les Paul. Pretty good song, and the production wasn't cheap I bet. reverb.com/item/33250920-2003-gibson-les-paul-studio-platinum-limited-edition

Ugh! Sorry, but limited number or not those guitars ain't old enough yet to ask that much for such a beat-up example. It's a studio with a different paint color and some metal bits added, sheesh! Five hundred dollar guitar (at most) if you ask me, though I wouldn't want it for that price either. Sorry, I don't mean to ruffle any feathers. I'm sure there's precedence somewhere that'd lead someone to ask that price, I'm just not on board. O.K., I'll shut up now...

Im seeing about 3-400 dollars worth of guitar at the most. that guitar has been beat to crap. Right now it seems alot of sellers are asking crazy high prices for used gear. a used LP Standard up for sale for 2100 when a new one sells for 300 dollars more.

FWIW, I couldn't care less about the supposed limited number or whatever, to be honest I forgot about that part of it. I dig it because it's got a story and because in my experience the beat up and heavily used guitars are normally the ones that sound and play the best. Guitars that don't play and sound very good don't get that kind of wear because they sit in the cases instead of going out on the road. You can tell it's probably an excellent player. (and you can check out the guy's vids to confirm it sounds good) One of my favorite guitars (a circa 1995 Ibanez Talman) is beat to crap like this Les Paul. My Talman traveled coast to coast and into Mexico with me.

No kidding. a broken headstock to boot. How does the saying go? There's two kinds of Gibson, those with broken headstocks, and those that haven't broken YET!!

Ah ha! That was one of the Platinum's I looked at. Even watched some of the video you mentioned. When I saw the neck break, I thought, oh mannnnnn! Pass.. Cool guitar, though. Looks way better with the inlays.
