He's back today with new stuff. I've been watching since the launch of the new site, and today's the day. Just in time,we could all use a chuckle. I love the one with the sound guy, think I worked a show or two with that guy! www.thefarside.com/The link thingy didn't work for some reason.

I didn't work with that guy, I WAS that guy. I used to jokingly tell the band members, "Don't piss me off. I can make you invisible by turning off your lights and removing you from the mix." I was joking but, not really.

My band once played at an outdoor Veterans fund raiser. We just walked onstage with our instruments and plugged into the amps that were already there. The sound mixing was done by a professional, off to one side of the stage. We had never sounded better, with the two girl singers' voices floated over the guitars, rather than being buried. I thought it was amusing (and telling!) that each of the guitarists kept gesturing at the sound guy to turn up their volume. (these two, who trade off lead and rhythm, always blame each other for being too loud) Kudos for the sound dude!

Excellent. I absolutely love The Far Side.
We usually do (did?) our own sound, but whenever we played a big gig with their own sound tech I always made sure I spoke to them straight away and was super-nice to them. ;-)
It usually worked, but not always :-)

In looking at the cartoons on his site, there's nothing newer than about 1994. Did I miss something???

Yeah...you've got to go deeper into the website. But it's there. I've got a stack of his daily cartoons from those little desk-top calendars we used to get that I keep in the kitchen drawer. Love those things and pull them out regularly for laughs and inspiration.

Now if we can just get Sam Waterson to revive Calvin and Hobbes.
