Queenie text me a couple of days a go with a proposition on something I had done long ago, done with all the good intention in the World.
Back story:
In the hallway we have a storage cabinet. It is about 24" X 24" and about 4' high (on the lower half) and to the sides through one wall is (what was) the kids bathroom. Through the other wall it is just outside the master bedroom door.
At the time we didn't have much of a use for the lower half of this storage area, so I decide to turn in into a family laundry hamper. I cut holes (16" X 10") in the wall on each side and made nice oak frames and oak doors with nice tile liners. It was pretty well done.
Time proved that it didn't really get used much, the kids used it a bit. Queenie was never very fond of the set-up, keeping in mind here that it was built before she arrive.
I have looked at it many times over the years thinking ... that's a pretty odd thing to have built and I doubt anyone else would ever use it, assuming we were to sell the house.
Well that text from Queenie got me moving. I text her today (she is at work and I'm not) with a pic of the start of the job. Queenie says, "Oh, I thought that would go to the end of the list". I responded, "Yes, it did go to the end of the list. This morning I decided to start at the bottom".
I did not think to get a PIC before I started, here's one hole in the wall.

Patch on hole, first run. I have four patches to do ... two holes, each with two sides.

For my personal twist I decided to create a false bottom in there with a lift-up shelf to stash something. What might be stashed there I have no idea, but it's there if ever needed.

The rails will be for the shelf and I tiled the entire floor and sides of the area to insure that it's a "clean storage" area.
There will be two shelves above for Queenie to store her stuff on. It seems this past run on paper goods has her wanting to have bulk supply of the stuff at all times. The upper shelves is where it will live.
Anyway, that's what I did today.
I'll let everything set up over night then I can grout the tile and move on to step two with the sheetrock repairs.
