My friend has a 67 Pro Reverb. I haven't heard it but he only buys cherry stuff. In the picture it looks new. This guy constantly buys and sells stuff, and he prices them really low. I kinda hate when he offers me something because I have a tough time passing it up.
I know he's gonna sell soon. I need one like a hole in the head, but...
Assuming it is cherry, with original stuff, what would you say is a good price? Thanks.

'67 is a transitional year, is it a blackface or silverface drip edge model?

My experience
a.) I love the Pro Reverb. The tone is Twin Reverb but dialed back a bit. At 40W with 2x12 you get a very clean tolerable loud at 4.
b.) I bought my '66 with all originals except the caps were replaced. The grill cloth was replaced with NOS authentic to the year. The serial number indicates my amp was April 66. I'll post a video of my unboxing later.
c.) I do know there was a change in '67 which drives the value down a bit. Basically the change came and in the early part of 67 they used the old parts until the inventory was gone and then went with the new products. I don't know if the tone suffered but from a collector standpoint they really want '65 or '66.
d.) I paid $2200 for mine and it is like it just came of the factory floor at Fender yesterday. I think the range is $1800 to $2500. I have seen an early 65 in mint condition list for $4k but I am skeptical they got that.

Wow those go for a lot. He retired from the gummint with 40 years, but still works as a contractor just to afford gear. What deals. He sold me a Vox AC15 with the blue alnico, a chrome stand, and an extra Greenback for $800, about 3 months old. He sold a Vox AC30 to my pal for $800 also like new. I'm scared he will offer his Ric 350 up for cheap! He currently has a Taylor 814ce for sale for $2400. Good thing I love my Yamaha FGX5!

My further thoughts---
It depends upon the goal. If you want the best bang for the buck living room amp I think you can just pick up a DRRI for around $1k and pretty much be done. I have one and it spends a lot of time on the amp stand in front of me.
The Pro Reverb was my 'I need this like a hole in the head purchase'. I have a lot of nice gear but I didn't have any actual authentic vintage amp. So I started looking at 57 tweed deluxe and 65 Twin Reverbs. I did the same thing with vintage Tiles.
After sometime I decided that for my personal needs I wasn't willing to spend $10k to $20k at this time. The Pro Reverb, to my way of thinking, is--or was--one of those vintage pieces of gear that simply seemed to be under the radar. I think it has to with not many people are famiiar with it. The only reason I knew about is because I was testing out some old Twin Reverb that was very expensive and yet in rough shape.
There was a 65 or 66 Pro Reverb in the corner for something like $800 in almost new condition. This was about 15 years ago. I tried it out and was knocked out by the tone. I didn't pull the trigger because it wasn't what I had in mind and I just didn't know the amp.
But for some reason it stuck with me and so when I started looking around again I decided that at $2k it was expensive but worth it. I didn't buy it to be jewelry or because I had visions of flipping it on the vintage market. I actually gig with it and it stays in my living room. If I accidentally damage it or lose it I will feel bad but I will be fine. I bought it to play it and I have no regrets.
I have about 10 amps. The Twin Reverb Reissue is still my #1 amp. To my ear even at 2.5 no other amp even comes close. But after that the Pro is the clear #2 and the Deluxe Reverb is the #3. I can probably get rid of all the other amps and won't miss them.

I like Pro Reverbs too. I have a 1965 that I have listed on the local FB Marketplace. Only a few bites so far but I'm in no hurry to sell. My Pro is not mint but very close. I like the portability and you get 40 watts with 2-12 in. Jensens.
