Not going to address the "two trains leaving Chicago" issue .....
I'm reading that 60 percent alcohol is the minimum for wiping out viruses.
I have a 16 ounce bottle of 70 percent isopropyl alcohol and I have a 16 ounce bottle of 50 percent isopropyl alcohol.
If I want to make the 50 percent into a 70 percent mixture, how many ounces of the 70 do I have to add to the 50 (in a larger container)?

I'm heading over to the Town Forum and propose that no math questions be allowed.

Combine the 2 16 oz bottles and you'll have one 60% mix.

You'll meet in Omaha, is my best guess.

But the 50% will get the virus good and drunk. Once that happens, it’s too busy hurling - hugging the toilet - to infect you.

Any amount of 50% will dilute the 70%. You could get to 60% not 70%, as above. Add a slice of lime and it will be fine.

50+70=120÷2=60, in the old math. New math, no idea.

Go to the liquor store and get a bottle of Everclear. You can get it at alcohol levels of up to 95%. The alcohol in Everclear (or other brands of a similar product) is ethanol and can be used as a disinfectant and/or antiseptic. It will also get you pie-eyed and will burn like gas in your car.

Now, as to my square footage for carpet .....

BTW isopropyl not good to drink, and less than ideal as skin absorption is not good either. In a pinch you could use it in small batches, but since everything seems to be hand sanitizer focused today there are better items to use.

I use Methyl Hydrate for all sorts of jobs. 99.9% and dirt cheap. It dissolves tree sap and gets a fire going in a hurry.

I generally spay it on door handles, shopping cart handles, the punch-panel at the ATM, my steering wheel when I get back in my car and like that. I carry a little spritzer along with the extra mag for my .32.

I know lots of folks have various antidotes for tree sap. Many of which have a pretty good toxicity. Fact is, all you need is some hand cream. Lubriderm works fine. So does vegetable oil. Try it...you'll see it completely neutralizes sap...and your skin will thank you for not hammering it with toxics.

I remember hearing a long time ago that drinking isopropyl alcohol isn’t toxic but will give you really bad gas. I never tested that theory so I don’t know if it’s true.

I guess we can wait for someone here to test the theory. If we don't hear back from them in a specific amount of time, we'll know it didn't work.

Are either of the bottles on a conveyer belt?

^Dont know about anyone else but it has been tough to find here. We lucked into some 90% a while back, then 2 bottles of 70%. Have not opened the 90 but are almost done with one of the 70's. I look everytime I am shopping.

Okay ... I just discovered a quart size bottle of 91 percent isopropyl in my earthquake gear. So ... how much of 50 percent mixed with 91 percent to have a bottle of 70 percent?
