KFC is going a step further than plant based chicken substitute by looking into bioprinted meat made from lab-grown chicken cells. In a nutshell, it's made by starting with muscle cells obtained from an actual cow, pig, chicken or whatnot, then getting those cells to reproduce in a laboratory setting. Sounds innocuous enough, right? Pig,chicken, cow ..... but it's the "whatnot" that caught my eye. The term applies to anything that could provide muscle cells. In the wild and wacky world of today, where the bold and the bored are delving into the consumption of exotic flesh .... lion, zebra, bats, monkey, elephant ..... we just turn to the next page: "The flesh tastes like pork, a little bit more bitter, stronger," according to some who have dabbled. Long pig (noun) "is human flesh as food for cannibals, among the Maori and Polynesian peoples." With reality TV constantly pushing the envelope, the internet going even further, and bioprinted "anything" meat emerging from the labs, exotic food just became a lot more strange. And a lot more available. Hold up a moment ... I'm putting on my dystopian thinking cap... I'm seeing a more popular version of Soylent Green coming to the sandwich shops. Let's remember that New York and Chicago are famous for sandwiches named FOR particular celebrities (The Scott Baio: homemade mozzarella is layered with prosciutto di parma, sopressata, banana peppers, basil and a dollop of balsamic vinegar.) But what about a sandwich made OF particular celebrities? A few purloined muscle cells (captured during an innocent hospital procedure?) and we're on our way. Natalie Porterhouse? Drew Baloney-More? Taylor Shank? "Let me have the Jennifer Aniston pastrami on whole wheat, with onions and swiss cheese, hold the mayo. And the hair." newatlas.com/science/kfc-lab-grown-chicken-nuggets/

Interesting ... moves away slowly and does not make eye contact... Interesting.... moves further away. Looks for safe exit... wonders to self, has gato getting enough sunlight and good food? Perhaps his rye bread has developed mold or his local Cannabis collective has bad seed. Still moving away....

I ate that stuff for years. My daily question when buying lunch from the local catering truck was, "Hey Joe, what flavor is the utility meat today?"

Did the catering truck stock up at the local funeral home? Didn't ask, didn't want to know. I had been known to walk away from the catering truck saying, "Soylent Green is people!"

Printed meat? Sounds like we are getting closer to the Star Trek replicator.
I want Pappy Van Winkle on ice, or neat.
I'll eat real cow, thankyou.
