I grew up in Pittsburgh.....Bethel Park. Born in 1963.
The 1970s Pirates were the best. World Series champs at an impressionable age....so many great players.
My Dad took me to many games at Three Rivers Stadium.....We sat in the upper deck in the outfield mostly, but I always brought my mitt so I could catch a home run ball.
That never happened......
Good memories though.

You,Sir, are correct! Sadly, all other interesting trivia about the pirates is based on how often we lose. There were some shining moments to be sure. 1960 World Series with the Mazeroski HR, Clementes .414 average in the 1971 World Series. That was a tough Baltimore team. The whole Stargell era(Remember the "We are Family" 1979 World Champions ). Alot to be proud of inspite of the Bonds/Bonilla era that ended falling short thanks to Sid Bream.
