I've had a great PRS guitar for years and, compared to my humble Tele and Strat, it feels off-balanced when I'm seated. The weight is much more distributed toward the guitar's body (rather than the neck) so it always feels off kilter to me, like it wants to fall down off my right pantleg. I've noticed this in other PRS guitars I've played. Anyone else get this?

Yeah, that happened to me. I owned a very well built Custom 22 that I bought new in the mid 90's. Beautiful guitar. I never owned a humbucker guitar and thought this would be a good place to start. Problem was it never sat right off my body frame if I was either standing or sitting. I had already been a Strat/Tele player for over 20 years so this might have been the source of my problems. I'm sure with a bit of adjustment I'd had been fine after a while but for some reason I didn't want to work with it. Also recall not being real crazy about the sound but like I said it was my first HB guitar. I soon sold it. Kinda wish I would have kept it now.

My memory rekindled itself after a momentary loss. The rest of the story goes that around 1997, maybe a couple years after buying the PRS, my friend knew of a guy selling a 1995 Gibson R8 Les Paul. This was the second year Gibson made this model. When testing the LP I brought the PRS to compare. I liked the LP so much better. It was no comparison. The PRS was sold soon after. I still own the LP and haven't played another that I liked better since, except maybe my old workmate's real '59 Burst.
Sorry about forgetting that!

I am not sure I've ever had that problem with a PRS, but I frequently have that problem with Les Pauls. I really don't like how they feel when sitting. They sit really low in my lap, and you can't turn them upward too far because the cable sticking out will eventually get in the way. Lucky for me I really like 335s. I kinda like a big body that I can sort of hunch over.
Fun fact: the waist diameter for a 335, Strat and Tele are all the same, 9 inches if I remember right. Les Pauls are 7.25.

I use a guitar strap if anything feels uneven using any guitar I own sitting down. so, If it slides a strap goes on to fix that problem because its elevated off my thigh.

I may try a strap but my plan is to sell the PRS and probably get something else. I've got a Strat & Tele, plus I'd have an additional guitar. Part of me thinks a Tele body style guitar with humbuckers would feel great, but I lean toward single-coils for most stuff I play. I've also considered a full hollowbody like an Eastman.

I never practice seated. I always practice standing. The way I figure it, I need to practice in the same position I will be in while performing. The only time I play seated is on the acoustic in my living room while I am writing or if people come over and we have a little sing-along. Again, on the acoustic. I also never practice unplugged. I never saw the point of it. I don't perform unplugged.

I have the same issue playing my LP seated. No issues with my Strat, Tele or ES-339 sitting or standing.
