So, the other morning I hear a knock at my door. No one there when I open it, but on my doorstep I find a plastic, pint-size jug of green liquid. On the jug is a tag that, translated from the Chinese, says "Drinking me is all to be good for your limbs and future." Naturally, I uncorked that jug and guzzled the contents. Not really, but how about this: "The USDA and agriculture officials in multiple states have issued warnings about unsolicited shipments of foreign seeds and advised people not to plant them. 'USDA is aware that people across the country have received suspicious, unsolicited packages of seed that appear to be coming from China,' the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) said in a statement Tuesday. It said it is working closely with federal and state partners, including Customs and Border Protection, to investigate." How many people are there, do you think, gullible enough that they'll go ahead and plant those seeds "just to see what happens'? www.cbsnews.com/news/china-seeds-americans-mail-unsolicited/

Oh yeah... they’re out there.
And, no doubt, some has ground them and snorted/smoked them by now too.

They're trying to feed the world in their own way. 🤓 I wonder which mailing lists the Chinese are using? Lists of people who have purchased items offered on late night infomercials?

Who has not been the victim of unsolicited foreign seed at least once...

But we've already gotten so much goodness from China lately...now more?
Oh, goody...

I think I’ve read enough fairy tales and such that I know better than to plant random seeds of unknown etiology. It’ll either be the beanstalk/giant issue or a man eating plant.

Is this how you really make Chinese food?

When I read that article, my thoughts went to the series of books written (and still being written) by David Gerrold he calls The War Against the Chtorr. They are invading Earth by changing the ecology, beginning with new invasive plants.

I like the idea that they may be seeds for Chinese take out. Question is...is it Mandarin or Szechuan.

Woman on the local news said she planted hers and morning glories sprouted.
No word on whether they were man eating morning glories. They are probably just biding their time.

They're trying to feed the world in their own way. 🤓 I wonder which mailing lists the Chinese are using? Lists of people who have purchased items offered on late night infomercials? Folks that bought Chinese toilet paper and waited two months for those special Chinese mini-rolls to arrive. My seeds should be here any day.

Imagine if today's headline was:
"People swallowing handfuls of unordered capsules sent randomly from China"
Or
"People igniting mysterious red sticks from China with fuses labeled 'light me'."
Because in The Guardian today:
"Americans have been planting mystery seeds which appeared to be sent from China, unaware of government warnings to dispose of the suspicious shipment
"Four people who have come forward after apparently randomly receiving the seeds have since contacted their local agricultural departments to collect the resulting mystery plants – or in some cases, fruitless seeds".
“We brought them down here and planted the seeds just to see what would happen, every two weeks I’d come by and put Miracle Grow on it and they just started growing like crazy,” Doyle Crenshaw, of Arkansas, told local news channel 5News.
This all brings me closer to understanding the mindset of people who attend raves, and eagerly swallow pills from the sweaty palms of utter strangers, "just to see what happens."
